G R O W I N G F R O M Y E A R T O F E AR

GROWING YEAR BY FEAR

By one I was done
I didn’t know what to do at two
Believe me, I was far from free at three
Four was a bore
At five I didn’t wish to survive
At seven I was ready for heaven
I learned how to astronomically hate at eight
Then at nine I took to wine
I was repulsed by most men at ten
I learned there is a Hell and Heaven at eleven
no one cared to delve in to 12
ain’t much I hadn’t seen by thirteen
Times I didn’t cause havoc were lean at fourteen
The universe turned mean at fifteen
And I was mentally sick at sixteen
I O.D.’d and it was heaven I swear to have seen at seventeen
At eighteen I was finally set free and ran with every degenerate denigrated by disgust and dehydration the rich chose to ignore
And at nineteen….well, need I say more?

English plurals

Well now…

If the plural of mouse is mice,

And the plural of louse is lice,

Then how could it not possibly be

That the plural of spouse is spice?

Why is it then the rule doesn’t

Also apply to house or to douse?

Nor even grouse, rouse or souse?

Nor even, for that matter, youse?

PLACES TO BE - St. Basil's Cathedral, Russia

This monument escaped destruction
Of Soviet's battles and revolution,
Like a church in Disney's fairytale
With bright rounded candles in the air,
Looking glorious, no melancholy trail
Hopes are strong, faith prevail.

Resembling tulip bulbs in the sky
Or intricate balloons ready to fly,
These cupola crowns reaching heaven
Do you think Russia is forgiven?
Opening turbulent, gloomy wars
With repeated sufferings and scars,
Tough harmony under the stars!

PLACES TO BE - Easter Island

On this spot, explorers arrived in Easter
Found carved stones from volcanic crater,
Giant figures shadow the island,
As if starkly saying, this is our land.
Our cruise ship made things so inviting
Free rubber boat rides were waiting
But this isolated park's not so seducing
Monolithic massive statues, not smiling
They look unhappy, grim a barren silence
Old Father Time darkened their patience!

PLACES TO BE - Amsterdam

Amsterdam, enthralling
With those canals curling
Concentric art displays
Streets follow the waterways.

Softly, curiosity arouses
Pretty, slim narrow houses
Leaning homes, close together
Are stronger, holding each other
Like saying "unity is power"!

A DISTINCTION WITHOUT A DIFFERENCE

A DISTINCTION WITHOUT A DIFFERENCE

I had to keep on the run
From the horizon to the sun
So I ran
Only always as a different man
One day I decided to be with the F.B.I.
I wouldn’t have had breath if I didn’t lie
I learned to steal I.D. and put my picture instead
Again things became banal so I started treating people in a hospital bed
I yearned to be a doctor in the emergency ward
So I went about forging diplomas so much I eventually grew bored
So then I got me a badge which is hard to believe
But I’m telling you, it’s a real gas to deceive
Fools don’t really check things out if you appear as they think you should
I was a mechanic and I did it real good
Suddenly I had a hankering to become a defender of the poor
So I forged some documents and a lawyer walked through the courtroom door
Now, I suppose, you’re going to ask me about the people I left behind
I didn’t find it sad to leave but many of them stick to my mind
But when you don’t know who you really are
And feel as if you’re simply an earthly scar
I felt like an infection who inflicted fiction fantasies and tales
And yes, of course I’ve talked my way out of many prisons and/or jails

W-A-R………..

A 3-letter word of d-o-o-m;
Rife with sounds like “b-o-o-m!”
Kills what comes from the w-o-m-b;
Ends with a hole, or a t-o-m-b.

Why then, especially in this century with all of its changes, is W-A-R still being tolerated?
