mr1983: Unfortunately we had that same thing in Ireland for years. We thought that we were been looked after by the exact people who conspired to nearly destroy us with some crazy policies. It all comes down to people informing themselves and communities empowering themselves to tell the political establishments that it is us who are in control. It is probably easier to achieve that in a country as small as ours compared to a country the size of the United States. But it can be done.
I was watching something interesting the other night. Ronald Reagen was making a speech and to his right was the CEO of Merrill Lynch. While he paused for second admit applause the CEO came up to him and told him to hurry up and to wrap it up in a gruff commanding way. I was shocked. The American peoples commander-in-chief been told what to do by some unknown corporate boss? Since when was this acceptable in America?

Americans are way to spoiled demanding instant gratification to leave their couch and budwisers to attend any town-hall meetings - let alone creating empowered organizations. They mostly prefer to point the finger and blame everyone else for everything that is going wrong. They'll all stubbornly let their politically partied representatives sell them to the corporations

Hot_Single_Dude: This is exactly what I also am talking a bout:

"That's why they have opposed every single one of the president's initiatives to reduce unemployment "

Which ones were in your opinion so viable for success?

Bet you can't state any of them.

On the other hand, why is your country so right wing? confused

Hot_Single_Dude: Of course Freddy. People vote and people, svote brings politicians on charge and that is why Dems got to work evne more serious revealing results of Republican kind of politics in America. Beside it is more than important to make America understand that if some voters are tired of politicians and so on and not willing to participate much , then the answer is not supporting Republicans instead.

Republican party is talking much a bout being the party of freedom and the party of mavericks and against big government and such and mean while... the truth is Republicans got big governments as well, using what ever pork they can, using what ever govermental subcidies and stimulation packages they can, dobbling and trippling the national debt, rising taxes when necessary for the country but most on the middle calls and on the poor opposite dems... but! Denying all that and lying big time a bout the same!

People bring politicians on charge for sure Freddy... it is time for people know more a bout what differences are between the two major parties and what exactly happens when representatives of special group organisations and by that I mean GOP folks are on charge.
of course, and you still don't have a Clew!
Just because you say the Republicans want all that makes right?rolling on the floor laughing

Hot_Single_Dude: It is a good question and I do not have the definate answer but still... debt have been raised before more than 90 times in US history and when ever the danger of going defualt existed and for the sake of the country. Maybe a whole new system and so on regarding these measures is needed but what we got now and here and now needs raise of debt in order to keep the country back to gether and in order to enable America paying servicemen and eldery and poor and unemployed and health and so on... if we were talking a bout a single family business or some thing then sure... but we are talking a bout a huge country and hundreds of millions of human beings

mr1983: Do Americans voters really know the consequences that a default will bring? Can republicans not see that the problems that created the last recession and the near total collapse of the financial markets are intertwined with many of the policies that they are still advocating? Why do people in America earning over $50,000 a year feel that they are part of the elite and have to be protected from tax hikes and tax breaks which will in reality never and have never benefited them? Why is the once "mighty" 89% less powerful now than it was in 1970? Why in 1970 when Americans were paying between 9% and 89% tax, was one income in a family sufficient, where household debt was minimal, where student loans were minimal, where everyone had enough to live in dignity? Why has corporate capitalism been allowed to destroy peoples living standards? These are questions the American people have to face up to instead of cheer-leading a party which threatens default and uses it as a weapon. Believe me default and the attitude of "F-CK the debts, we are America" just won't cut it. Americans really need to wake up. The debt ceiling must be raised in conjunction with less spending and higher taxes, even if only temporary.

Hot_Single_Dude: Bill Clinton was a fabulous president of America

Bill Clinton is responsible for ordering fannie mae to finance homes for gazillions that were not qualified and subsequently responsible for the real estate bubble and busting of our economy.

Since GOP specially were allowed too much power and influence and involved who ever nosing in important decisions for the whole country based on private interests of a small group og filty rich folks and since GOP really beleives America is their private back yard and should be runend as a private business dunno

Well Denmark is no that right winged no more... there was a economical bobbble and people could all of sudden loaning and keep loaning and were beleiving being rich and very rich and stuff went wrong... now Recession over here is "offcial" even Recession have been around for a long time any way... people can not handle false "wealth" and going radical and ultra right winged any where...

For example investments in Infrastructure of America and green energy for America are real ways forward and creates millions of new jobs and securing the feauter prosperity of the country and some military investments should shift to infrastructure and gree enrgy investments as soon as possible and the president knows this but Republicans are fighting against these and can not Get it what so ever dunno
