The thread: Are smokers faces different from their non smoking friends? seys Interested in what people think. I believe smokers do look different.
then has said: Wiki - The general appearance is of accelerated aging of the face, with a characteristic pattern of facial wrinkling and sallow coloration.
"Smoker's face" occurs because toxins involved in the smoking process create a ... present in the buttock skin of smokers when compared to that of non-smokers.
So those who took up smoking 'cos they thought it was glamorous may have smoked their glamorous looks out their mouths and nostrils.
it was observed that heavy smoking could cause visible changes in a person's complexion. This included premature wrinkling and a loss of elasticity in the skin, giving the smoker a rough, haggard appearance, and a slightly reddened or orange complexion.
The symptoms of "Smoker's face" include a number of distinct characteristics. Prominent lines and wrinkles are usually noticeable emanating from the corners of the eyes ("crow's feet"), even extending on to the cheek. The cheeks themselves may appear sunken. Other wrinkle lines become etched perpendicular to the lips, with shallow lines forming on the cheeks and lower jaw. Some male smokers may also develop a distinctive feature referred to as "cobblestone wrinkles", which are wrinkles that run down the back of the neck. The underlying bone structure of the face becomes more visible under drawn, taunt skin that has lost its elasticity. The skin may take on a dry, tough and leathery appearance. A mottled, slightly reddened, orange and purple complexion may occur because of inadequate oxygenation of the blood, similar to what occurs during cyanosis. On other occasions, the smoker's complexion may develop a grey, unnatural pallor because it is more atrophied than a non-smoker's skin.
just trying to protect our smoking friends from themselves

More like havin to fight the son in law wanting to go home to bed, think hes working again tomorrow.
Hey, thanks everyone for all the good wishes. I would still be thinking like Rob before what happened to me saturday morning. Lot of things can cause heart attacks mine was heavy smoking unfortunately. I would never have admitted it before, have now.
Never met more social lot of people. Young women in their 20s & 30s, married and single, have no problems chatting with an old codger like me. We have something in common, the few in the anti-brigade.
I work in Warragul and the Council has banned smoking in most of the main streets in the whole Shire. So I have to duck down a laneway or a side street when I want to have a coffee and a smoke. People of all ages stop and say "I have never smoked in my life but this is a ridiculous local law."
I know smoking is not good but it is my bad addiction. And I realise that there are people who don't like it, and a few who are affected by the smoke. I do my best to keep it away from non-smokers.
I am one of the many people allergic to fragrance. What are the chances of getting fragrance banned from the streets?
And what about hoodies, pants hanging half way down the legs (and they walk like they have just crapped themselves), daggy (not referring to The Daggy) trackies and mocci's in public? I think they should be banned too.

Actually, this is how it happened yesterday morning. Doctor came in said "good morning I hear its your b/day today, what would you like for your b/day?" I said, I really wanna go home. Looked at me and said " I think that can be arranged" Second chance maybe. Hey thanks to all of you, havent smoked since saturday and not going to, think someone on here can say how a heavy a smoker I was.
Now ROB at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And he's quick with a joke or to light up ME smoke But there's someplace that he'd rather be He says, Ajax I believe this is killing me." As the smile ran away from his face "Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star If I could get out of this place"
