There is no such thing as one being better then the rest. And I believe the word 'versus' is totally out of order in your heading.
Religion....in the myriad forms that it exists in not just the two you mentioned....is a matter of choice for the individual to live his creed.
Whether Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc etc etc.....it is up to the individual to decide which best he/she wishes to uphold. None are better or worst then the others, for each provide rules of social order.
And for the record, I follow neither, being an Atheist.

Of course....as any other post coming from whichever side of religious belief will be too......for that is exactly what religion is....a personal choice....
Disagree Boban.....in religious terms it is.....one may profess to be whatever it may need him to say he is.....but ultimately whether he follows or believes in that faith is entirely and solely up to him....

information that is available to us determent our choice ...
currently we have a lot of information , but we don`t have access to the entire picture of the puzzle

From my part, and this is purely personal, I only believe in what can be scientifically proven. And even that is continuously changing, for as our knowledge expands, previous concepts and theories change and evolve.
Such is life itself. The only reality that is fact is CHANGE.
It's not easy to start to believe, and it's not easier to hold on to a belief.
In all religions there is a tension between guiding moral teachings and reflectful actions. When a believer is in harmony with himself/herself and the environment, love flows and good c things comes out of it. When a believer isn't in harmony with himself/herself, the outcome is rigid preaching and violent actions. People who say that religion is a personal matter haven't read the claims of every religion. It's the claim of being the one and only truth that's the problem, or the exclusive treatment of it's followers.
And it's the exclusivity that attracts people to be a part of the movement.
"Everyone wants to go to heaven and ride the limousine of course..." as the swedish artist Thåström sings:

Probably it is only Atheists like myself who understand that religion is a choice....
I myself was born into a Catholic upbringing, and it was a matter of choice that I grew up to question the faith I was 'forced' to uphpold as a child. With adulthood, I made my choice, and follow my beliefs accordingly.
So irrespective of all that is professed in the Catholic Faith, or any of the others that I looked at and dissected in my own privacy, I still made my choices, and abide by them. Still do.

Soooooo if you have an experience beyond what has been scientifically proven to date (or let´s say been published), you don´t trust yourself enough to trust you truly experienced that experience?
Personally, I trust my own experiences MORE than what has been published to date as "proven". Call it arrogance, call it faith in myself
stringman: religion will not save you but GOD will.the question should be, do you believe in GOD not religion.
IMO the question should be: "Why should people believe in God in order to be saved?"
Divine energy (IE God) would NOT "pick" who to "save" ... Divine energy/God would NOT practise favouritism... Divine energy/God would NOT turn away a "misguided" soul ...
ANYONE who portrays a "God" who would, using FEAR as a tool to control people´s behaviour is playing an egotistic game that is the complete anti-thesis of what healthy spirituality is about.

I would question that experience and try to find a logical answer to it.
The way Science does, by studying and looking from every possible angle.
But beyond that particular point you have made, today we ares starting to understand so much of this Universe of which we are part, that we have also now started to understand where we come from, what we are made of, and how we evolved. Such that we now know that we are part of a much more complicated mechanism that surrounds us and dictates our being what we are.
