Not all meditation is based on no thought. Some meditation techniques use controlled thinking. Raj Yoga is a good example, that uses an open eyes and peaceful thought meditation.
I have found myself at times with an utterly blank mind... it's when I realize I have had "no thought" albeit for a moment, that my mind kicks back into gear... the practice that led me to the point at which i could achieve "no thought" was during meditation in a common beginner's practice of concentrating on a small, triangular area of the nostrils where air passes through, concentration on the air itself, concentration on the sensation of the air as it passes in then out...concentration that then becomes nothingness as awareness becomes "still" and the mind has emptied...

I can cope with the open eyes, peaceful thoughts, relaxation...... but I can´t stop the intrusive thoughts.....

Intrusive thoughts are with us for a large part of our awakened day, it's a voice in our head to which we identify as being ourselves. This is not the case...listen to the voice impartially, do not judge or condemn just listen. You'll soon realise there is a voice and I am here listening to it...the beginning of a realisation of your own presence, not a thought, it rises from beyond the mind.
Yes it's possible to be in the moment. Once one resolves the issues floating around ones mind that keep one having a continuous conversation with oneself. This takes honesty with oneself, to take one out of a delusional world. When one is in a delusional state of mind, one has to constantly keep explaining ones view of reality to ones self, as REALITY is constantly contradicting the delusions. Hence the conversation. Meditation can be and often is a way of fooling ones self. With all due respect.

Facing ones delusional self, honesty,, takes a lot of courage. It means facing and feeling a lot of pain, embarrassment, insecurity. There are good reasons why folks "fool" themselves.

Yes. Isolation procedures. During the Space Race, human physiology was examined for it's resilience to Zero stimuli. As far as I remember test subjects were suspended, with a breathing apparatus into a sound proof tank of water... in the dark... for hours and hours. After a while the mind will eventually go quiet. And ... madness sets in. If I remember this correctly, women actually performed better than men at this and showed more resistance.

rider4u: When you expand your consciousness to a higher level, all thought evaporates as a cloud on a warm sunny day. Back in the 60's I accomplished this by using LSD and then learned that all it was, was a glimpse into a high level of consciousness that could be achieved through spiritual growth. Now 50 years later it is relatively easy to step outside the process of thinking and just BE. As a matter of fact it is a lot harder to get lost in thought these days as being aware and conscious is soooo much a nicer place to be.
Sounds like you and I have been following similar paths in our lives...

MADDOG69: I wonder what "Pat" would have to say about all that jibble jabble.
I did post one of his vids where he gives his views on spiritualism...I seem to remember he referred to it as "the truth" or words to that effect. But then he does always keep it real.
LOL yes some women in my life have done that very thing but it's usually precipitated by my not giving a damn what they do. All that emotion and no vent (not a very pretty sight).
Might have interrupted a conversation here , sorry. I am scared to think of nothing. I fall asleep thinking , I wake up thinking. Choice waterboarding or meditation, show me the water
