Alexandro10: Yeah I guess so man , and I tell you more. Many people don't know this. I'm going to do a bad publicity of my second country, but hey what is right is right. Italy is the most primitive country in Europe, by that I mean there are at least 20 years back to other country's in Europe, even Italian people admit to that, but on the other hand, its has the most kind and sociable people in the world to my eyes.
Ex. As a tourist if you are lost, there is no way an Italian wouldn't help you . He even would take you to the place. ( Maybe afterwords he would ask a reward ). Figlio della mignotta
maybe some aspects are primitive, others aren't...... the transportation and communication infrastructures there in Italy (imo) are better than here. Outside of a few cities, most places have only one mode of people-mover here... the auto/motorcycle/truck etc.
I also noticed digital voice and data phone service is better there. Some people here can't take cellular calls while inside their homes.... seriously... and yet I found while there, I had five-bars signal strength on my cellular phone inside a tunnel under a mountain better than half way between Rome and Giulianova.
If you want to travel back in time, literally, go to Ukraine or Russia ... the farther East you go ... the farther back in time you'll find yourself (except in the larger cities) (imo).

I'd vote for Berlusconi in a heartbeat....
don't ever mention Berlusconi to an Italian..not many people like him Yeah I agree with you on more you go to the east more you go back in time, but I was referring between all the European country's, like to my experience and eyes I find Paris one of the most modern city's in europe. ex . Here in Paris we have bycicles and electric cars ( as I've heard no licence needed ) that you can hire to go around Paris, and more more its all over Paris, as if you put the same idea in Rome ( they already have ) wouldn't work. They haven't this idea to expand them self's ( if you know what I mean )

Alexandro10: So I guess you went on Sunday morning to Porta Portese ( the central market )
No, I went to the Mercato Centrale I do not remember what day it was, yet I could get it from the pictures but I do not think it was sunday.
El Mercato is the place were most locally produced goodies are traded like fresh fruits and vegetables yet there will be some imported products along with other items. While there are other places were some China-deras are sold mostly (it is not a bad word in Spanish but very close) and you can find them everywhere.
For the days and time of opening it is better to always check ahead and in Italy for most cultural events you have to do pre-notazione to avoid large waiting times.
What is it that you like the most being in FRance or in any other country? What would you recommend or not recommend from your personal taste to a visitor?

The only mercato that I know of in Rome is porta portese, and its only on Sundays. Ofcourse there are many other mercato's around Rome but they are not more important then porta portese. The only mercato centrale that I know of is in Florence, but I have never been.
Ohhh as in France- Paris, what can I say. The most thing that I love about Paris , its because its modern, and you have everything around you. It touches every taste and all sort of people. You have museums and they are two major ones ( museum d'orsay and of course the Louvre ). Then you have all the major places and attractions to see, like tour Eiffel, champs Elysée, place Concorde, trocadero ,ecc., and many things to see, like montmartre, montparnasse, la defencd ecc..ecc..and to finish it all ,Paris has got a very nice and wonderful night life and one of the best places that I like is LA Bastille. So as you see its different then Rome, that is more monumental city and of course nice food.
I was in Rome and old Rome is beautiful but the city that has grown up around it not so good!! Bit of a disappointment. Farely dirty city with alot of stealing of your bag on the train. People constantly torment you to give them money, buy something or agents trying to get you into their cafe or restaurant.
Food was a let down also, not that great.
Ancient ruins amazing though.
Always thought it would be a romantic city but this is far from the case.

Wow..I saw a totally different city to you!
I loved every minute of it.
Even when I took the wrong local bus and ended up stranded in a housing estate in the suburbs!
What do I know about Rome? That ya gotta go. The Coliseum, the Forum, the people, the food, the wine... what else do you need? It's majestic, it's frenetic, it's filled with antiquity... gads, I gotta go back! Now!!!

You wont be long alone in Rome . Other city's in Italy 50/50. in the right place at the right time incomparable. there is a festival in Rome every year in the area of Trastevere, next to the river tevere. Littrealy after 5 min you can flirt with a girl/ woman , whatever you wanna call it. And the after scene is setup for you .Nice level floor couches with candles next to the river. I don't remember the period of the year man. Long time ago...
