hydrargyrum: This poll is to find out how many that know what Aspergers Syndrome is and if they will date someone with Aspergers Syndrome
There is a very wide spectrum or levels of Aspergers (Autism). Frankly having worked with a boss that was one, and having relatives with it, I wouldn't date anyone with it.
I know how hard it is for those who will be on the receiving end of it.
Aspergers people don't relate well to others where teamwork is needed, and a relationship always involves teamwork.
Aspergers people will often be very intelligent, but will often choose career paths and sports where they do not have to be team orientated.

I feel sorry for men with aspergers. Dating women involves picking up on subtle cues and most conversation with a woman is essentially an opportunity for her to talk about herself, you're just there to hold the limelight on her. The solipsist, subjective and irrational mind of woman will never get on with the abstract, objective and logical mind of an asperger. Her emotional irrationality will piss him of just as his robotic logic will turn her off.
I've yet to actually meet a girl with aspergers(that I know of). The one girl with autism I do know well is actually quite sweet, she doesn't need to be socially dominant to turn me on so if she looked hotter than I probably would. At least for a while as I'd worry about having sons and them being more likely to turn out autistic.
Da_Moose: Yes. A date is a date. (But then again....no,....for I am in a relationship,....but I speak hypo0thetically,....sheesh. I hate big words,...)

Yes, I know what it is and yes, I would date him.
I don't discriminate against a man who has diabetes. I would date a diabetic, so why not someone with Aspergers? Do we make allowances for one and not the other?

Drink didnt always suit him.
We did have some good times together tho,
He loved those detective cartoons in the marvel comics and would collect them,
We had our cans beer together at weekends and long cozy chats in the pub,
Lasted two years but was very soon after my break from my ex hubby,

He was a fine man but 12 years younger than me,
He would say very complimentary things to me and at other times down right insult me but I gave him as good as I got,
There is a bit of autism in my family, not sure which type. But as far as I can see they are both great a husband and boyfriend. One of them is a great dad too. Two of the children have a mild form of autism, but this does not result them into having less friends or not doing good at school. They are amazing, smart and very affectionate children that I love dearly.
I think dating should be about the person not the label. I do think that a person should be able to live independently as I do not want to be a mother.

The fella who organises a walking group that I regularly attend has aspergers, and he is so lovely...
and so well organised...
He doesn't always pick up on jokes, but what a lovely young man... so clever, respectful, and I noticed he is also uncomfortable around night time parties, bands and so forth...
I voted yes because I've dated three who I believe to have Aspergers also one with Tourettes.
My Ex husband says I need a challenge.
These were lovely men; brave, loud, fun and funny, good dancers, intelligent, excitingly unpredictable. Quite crazy but loving in an uncomplicated and universal way. All but one were very successful and very generous but here is the crunch.
How long can one live with this euphoria? It's just not normal and does render one a little out of one's depth.
