Do you take time at least once to thank God (64)

I supposed I do in my own way. I do not go to church, but I am amazed at creation all the time....just now I enjoy the sounds of rain falling outside my window because I know it will replenish the streams....the colors of the autumn leaves and small everyday miracles. In awe of these things I guess is my way of thanks because I am not a church person.cheers

track aside from that probably tasting awful, a bible is a thing of man. I doubt God paid all that much attention......dunno

remember the Jesus commands against idolatry or things of man so while the bible is an important book to many, and holy, it should not be idolized. so don't worry....just my .02

(and I realize some may not agree with me and that is fine but I am not changing my mind, so please.....let's leave it at that)

higmno: Dear Father God,

I thank you for waking me up today, another day of life. You have given me another sunrise to enjoy.

Thank you, Lord God, for the wonderful sounds of nature and the cool breeze brushing through the trees making the birds sing beautiful melodies. You are a great Father, Lord, always full of grace and mercy. I praise you, Father, for allowing me to live another beautiful day in Your Kingdom.

Thank you for the gift of family and friends. Holding them in my heart is one of the most precious things I can never get tired of. Bless everyone, Father, for they deserve all the goodness you have given to me. If I may do something wrong today, please forgive me. I also thank you for always being the reason in my head when it comes to decision-making.

I pray to You, Your Son, Jesus Christ and all the angels in heaven. Amen.

To be born at this time, in this place, with these genes is a blessing I'd like to find somebody to thank for. For now I just pray to fate.

Yes, i thank God for taking care of my friends,, while i take care of my enemies.

Now, seriously,, thankful for what? God if he exists,, he contented himself to be adored by the weak & innocent ones, while the the powerful/cruel people on earth go on making advantages over the weak ones, without showing his goodness or maybe his power!!!

If your waking up,, some prefer not to wake up anymore,, so keep your thanks for youself.

My father was a man, not some make believe imaginary invention of some ignorant sheep herders wrapped in bed sheets living in tents in the Middle East. I have nothing to thank this non existent "whatever" for!

The sooner you stop putting your hope and faith and dependence on some made up figure and stand on your own 2 feet and make your own decisions to improve your existence, the sooner you'll be rewarded with a fruitful life. Just like lotteries are designed to fleece the poor and uneducated, so too are religions designed to extract wealth from people who have been terrorized into thinking if they don't cow tow to the organization they are doomed to spend a billion years engulfed in flame. Talk about the punishment fitting the crime, this alone proves just how incredibly unfair this so called "god" was made to be!

Though I've believed in God and his Son Jesus from my youth, it wasn't until about the age of 40, that I regularly gave thanks and drew a tremendous amount of spiritual strength and a gift of selfless-humbleness in my spirit from giving thanks daily and at times, hourly. I give thanks, once before leaving for the day, again before bedtime and throughout the day.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The Scholars and Translators in the court of King James were masters of the English language, flawless. No missunderstanding in translation from the Hebrew text. Giving thanks in Every Thing, not everything. Giving thanks for each and every singular circumstance is accurate.

Before humans defined borders and before humans organized religion the world was not on a path of destruction.

The only way that Mr Lennon's vision could somewhat be achieved would be to unite all countries with a common goal but human greed will forever be in the way. So until basic survival overcomes greed we humans are going to be in turmoil.

Its better you keep all the religious stuff in YOUR head and not in others throats, its a con, people hide behind it, and its full of thieves. Why would a religious sect want a 65 million dollar airplane??, why would anyone that is religious cut the head off of a 4 years old girl??, why would you lie to a child and tell it that something non existent will punish it if its not good?. Take your religion and shove where the Sun don't shine.

If you think praying is good then call Bobby Brown and ask him what he thinks its good for.

KIBALUV: The Bible plainly states that "satan comes to STEAL, KILL & DESTROY," not God! How can you blame a person you don't even believe in? WHy not just blame santa clause or the easter bunny for your problems?

I thank God every day that I have a roof over my head; heat in winter, cool in summer; food, clothes, shoes & a warm cozy bed to kip in. Compared to 3/4ths of the worlds' population who have none of these things, I am rich beyond compare. Just to have Gods' forgiveness thru His Son, Jesus, is priceless.

Americans are spoiled & arrogant, & do not give God the praise He deserves. In the book of Revelation, He says, "Woe to those who say I am rich & have need of nothing, but know not that they are spiritually naked & blind."

I like your spirit.

thumbs up I like most of what she is saying too, but she is wrong to generalize about Americans. Even in this thread, if one reads back much of the comments about not needing god, or implcations of that do not come from Americans.

There are certainly some arrogant people here, but no more than anywhere else...Thank Godthumbs up laugh

I see god as a metaphor for love and kindness, an indestructible energy within us all. To pray to god is to remind us of that energy, to connect to that energy and to be that energy.

"When we take the gods as facts, rather than metaphors, then we get lost in debating the merits of the facts rather than apprehending their meaning. The fundamentalist ties his or her beliefs to the facts and narrows the spiritual vitality by fighting rear-guard actions against disputation. On the other hand, the atheist disputes the evidence, gets confused by the institutional forms to which he or she has been exposed, and misses the possible deepening which occurs whenever one confronts the meaning of divinity."

serene56: No, I don't thank God for my existence and everyday life as you do.

Once, I had a strong faith which I took for granted but over the years found that it was diminished by the heinous things that have happened in my life, and the world in general.

God and I have a deal right now, I'll scratch his back if he scratches mine

This is a comment to your ridiculous comment. If you are reading this that's because of God gave you another day to live on this earth. Thanking him for your existence everyday should be a no brainer regardless what's happened in your life. Most of which I'm sure if heinous, God had NOTHING to do it with. He gets blamed for everything. "I'll scratch his back if he scratches mine", That excuse will not hold up when you met your maker, (God). In fact I'm sure he is getting a good belly laugh at you now rolling on the floor laughing
