Last time I went to daughter's I had the choice of
(a) watching her dotty gran like a hawk before she could put toothpaste in her hair, her knickers on over her clothes, or sit on anyone's lap seductively
or
(b) making the bread sauce, the brandy butter, laying the table, wrapping the last few presents, walking the dog, and opening the wine. I was exhausted. Fell asleep face first into the brandy butter. I do make extremely good brandy butter. Maybe all the taste-testing added to the exhaustion ...

i was simply hurt in lifes journey now i have rose above it, i can now taste heaven
I enjoy Christmas.
I am cooking in my house this year for a small group of family and friends.
If they want a totally traditional fare, they can go elsewhere
Then I use other nights to go around and visit friends (aka demand they give me a bed for the night and lots of food and alcohol )
In between, I walk the dogs plenty, eat even more, and sleep in front of the fire 90% of the time

It was bad before because she sometimes knew what was happening to her, and sometimes was belligerent. Now she is enjoying life immensely and things could be so much worse. (She still gets tetchy with anyone who tries to stop her kissing the postman).
