Not really but I'm hopeful that next year will be far more boring, confident that it will be. I think I can be incredibly boring when I put my mind to it.
Mercedes_00: They did it to so many people. It stinks it truly does & it isn't fair at all
It is when you consider how much effort & trouble it took to arrange a flight, not to mention financially. Ok , she will get her money back for the flights , but not the 300 dollars she spent for the compulsory test before she could fly . The airline even had the audacity to ask for a cancellation fee

Friends took a flight from Stockholm, had to change flight in Helsinki Finland. To be able to board the plane in Stockholm you had to show documents of vaccination. When arrived in Helsinki they couldn't find the documents on the cell phone(stressed old people) so they were not allowed on the next plane. They had to pay 50 euro each to take the next plane the next day. I mean if they got on the first flight 100% they have correct documents. They where actually not the only ones who were refused that flight. It's money that rules of course. Airlines see a way to sell two seats to the same person.

Tell your daughter not to give up on that $300 as I'm sure thousands of others will be looking at the right avenues to get all their money back

The tests were voluntary & had nothing to do with the airline, although I have my suspicions that the airline knew in advance that the flight would be cancelled. It’s just another money making scheme by governments to raise revenue they lost in the last 2 years . If they really cared for the safely of their people, they should be made available for free .

At the airport people were crying they had paid well in advance for these tests at the airport itself

I must be confused with something else
Anyone sensible wouldn’t test hours before a flight . Everyone who flys needs a test certificate that shows a negative test of a maximum up to 82 hours & you can get one at test centres & reputable chemists .

When I flew to France last week I needed a negative test result less than 24h old... Had my test the evening before following morning flight. If the test had been positive I would have had to have cancelled the flight.
It was a relief when the plane took off that nothing 'had gone weird' and stopped me from flying. My Mum is quite aged and it's her first Christmas without my Dad. I really wanted to be here with her.
So sorry your daughter's flight was cancelled. I feel your for you. Haven't my kids either because flying in and out of England is a little 'complicated' with all the measures ...
Selenite: It's not complicated if you can tag about 10 days onto your 'holiday' and have an extra 1000 to spend on top of your holiday expenses. For 10 days hotel isolation and extra pcr tests required ...
Our government didn't require that of people travellng from India at the peak of of the Delta wave there.
They didn't require that of British people holidaying in Spain last summer. My area was the most bolluxed in the UK for a while, at least in part because a couple came home from a holiday in Spain infected and went on a pub crawl the moment they got back.
Maybe there are inconsistencies, maybe Brexit is stinging enough for spite, maybe the penny has finally dropped with our government that as an island we could have avoided being bolluxed all along.
I'm sorry you are missing out on seeing your family, Sel.

Inconsistences and incoherence all round ...
I'm missing out on seeing my kids and grand-kids but fortunately I've been able to be with my Mum who is mourning my Dad and recovering from a broken shoulder after a fall. She'll be 89 on 28th and so I spend Christmas and her birthday with her ...

Enjoy you Mum while you can... my Mum made it to 91 years and 7 months... things can change fast, you probably know that from your Dad... Your kids will see you spending time with her, they know... I hope it's a good one, for both of you...
