A couple things. Either the US has gotten much better in fighting wars...or the combat levels of Iraq are not as intense as they were in Vet Nam.
Actually it is a combination of the two. The US has gotten better at fighting wars since Vet Nam. And the combat level in Iraq is not as hard or violent as the conditions in Vet Nam. That is a reason why that 87,215 figure of the Iraqi gov't is a believable one.

In the years of 2001-2008, there has been a lot wrong tax cuts which really truely made a mess out of american health care programs, american social welfare programs, american infrastrutur and in a lot other areas where those stupied tax cuts just attacked the poor and the disable and the misfortuned and the ill and the mentally ill and the veterans and the police and the environment and the none educated and the less educated and the naiv and the blind follower of the government and the opposer of the same govenrment and the single mom and the single father and...........
Just try to figur out and add to gether how much money was in that way taken a way from areas as importnat as nothing else in benefit of the american society and then you will simply being able to figur out why there is a need for huge injections of capital in those sturved areas in your country!

Now a group of dedicated men and woman have decided to make really differnet kinds of investments in benefit of the nation because they know the lack of investments in the right way in the dark years of 2001-2008, have resulted in millions of americans living poor and struggling for the most basic needs in their every days lives TT ! this new kind of investments will be good for America and the Bankers who are going to make that possible are going to make a lot cash out of their participation in rebuilting America as well!

My niece is in college. Her average annual expenses are
for one year of college
$38,000 per year.
This is no Harvard. But a mid range mid west University. The Harvads go at $60,000 per year.
So let us say she takes out Pell Grants for the 4 years. She does not have to....she has both some work income and scholarship funds....but student loans is the single most common way to pay for a College education today.
So?
$38,000 x 4 = $152,000 in debt when she graduates in four years
Add to that
$120,000 which is the interest only on the Federal Budget that young adults will have to pay in their working careers.
When she begins her career.....she is $272,000 in debt.
Add a house mortgage.........another $200,000
A car note....................another 25,000
Total......................... $495,000 in debt
Average working career in years..... 40 year
Every year she is paying $11,000 to her debts
Average Salary...........$50,000
Average Taxes............ 20,000
Net Take Home............ 30,000
Debt repayments.......... 11,000
Maybe the economy is good and she gets raises. Maybe it not good and she does not.
Ever try to live 40 years on $19,000 per year? Not many can accomplish that. Life has to many unknowns and unforeseen situations. marriage/children/health issues.
