seekndestroy: not all of us....i still part take in the ageless rituals.....stalking your prey.... setting up for the kill shot.... squeezing the trigger.... then cutting open the chest cavity, grabing the still warm heart and...... .... taking a bite out of it to thank the gods for the harvest !!!!!then beating my chest.... tho not too hard or too much.... otherwise them old lungs get mad and i start coughing !!!
and lastly letting out a loud.... yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaawwwwwww !!!!! pretty much the same as dating !!!!! but without the whining and nagging !!!!
senorbubble: It used to be a necessity in my family but as things improved the game lived on and meat came from the market. Hunting isn't sport unless the animal has as much chance to hurt you as you them.
i know i know, meat can be easily bought in a store nowadays. thats why i actually asked why people hunt? is it sports, fun or what?

seekndestroy: well ma'am.... that was never my intent....i just strive to inform people about the facts of life is all !!!!
I guess it wasn't your intent to make me laugh, and hey, I'm not the only one laughing.
I was just laughing at the way you wholeheartedly described what I think is correct for a man to be able to show that they can do... whether they get a chance to show it or not is a different story. But I wanted to express a Yes... I think its instinctual or should be instinctual for a man to show that he can hunt... should the need arise.
The Hunter.... and yes, also for the two legged variety.
YouMeUs: I never have and never will hunt just for sport. But I have hunted for food and I see nothing wrong with that, although others may feel differently, it's understandable.
Me thinks that "hunting for food" should have been another option in the poll, as both of the current ones are practically the same, only worded slightly differently.
Nowadays nobody needs to hunt animals for food, we can also survive without meat so in my eyes hunting an animal is murder because animals are living creatures like human kind too! So it is not understandable that you hunt animals.
Without Hunting, Half the cars would be damaged, and you wouldnt have, enough food as the animals would overrule...Look What the Dog pound does with dogs and cats, they have to put them to sleep.... without Hunters, you may be starving as the animals would ruin the whole fields
Without hunters lot of animals would still exist and wouldnt have been exterminated...

well.... sorry to have caused you the hassle of a reflex reaction causing you to utter a series of ha ha ha's while smiling with an open mouth and potentially disrupting your breathing pattern for a few seconds.... again, it is never my intent to cause you or any of the "others" you refer to, to have such involuntary reaction to my factual assertion/s...
next time i'll be less flambuoyant and more direct in my description of things..... more in line with the following:
me man..... if it move... me kill ... me use different weapon for different moving thing..... if it walk on four leg... me shoot with big gun.... if it walk on two leg and it nag and whine all time.... me shoot with different gun... me use weapon for killing and gun for fun !!!!!
pastortim: Actually, throughout my younger years it was a necessity to eat. We couldn't afford to feed our huge family from month to month, so hunting deer, elk, and antelope was needed to just make it by. The most important thing was we had food on the table every day and we didn't starve. So maybe some people do it for a trophy buck, but we did it for food and most of us still do today. One deer can save hundreds in the food bill every year. An Elk can save a whole lot more. I have always loved Elk meat better than beef because there is no wild or cow dairy taste in elk meat. It the best meat out there. (Even better than chicken). So people who say butchering a cow is different than butchering an elk or deer are crazy. Cattle are an animal too, so is a chicken and people still gobble up those little creatures. For a time, they sold deer meat in the stores here. In Alaska, when a Moose is hit by a car, they take the moose meat and give it to the poor who want it.
I know if we didn't hunt, we would have had an empty stomach many times in my younger years.
However, no matter what you eat whether it be veggie or meat, its all vitamins and that is what you need to survive. So if it be a cow, elk, moose, bear, or squirell, its all food.
I only laugh at the animal activists who shout its cruelty to shoot a deer, catch a fish, or even eat road kill. Then they go to McDonalds and have a cheeseburger and chicken nuggets.
but you dont need to eat meat to stay healthy, you find all the necessary minerals and vitamins in cereals, fruit, vegetables, nuts and legumes.
I used to hunt. I go fishing now and see no different in that sport. I have no issues with people who hunt. It is a neccessary to keep some animals population healthy.

Bratzgirl04: i agree .... why hunt an animal for meat when you can buy it in the supermarket already dressed? and i think because of the huge increase in population since the old days that animals have to be "mass produced" to feed all of us meat-eaters!
these days, men still hunt but they prefer to hunt the two-legged variety
you dont even have a bad conscience to write such things on here? So in your eyes animals are just mass products?

This is not what my doctor says at all. She says the opposite. in fact she yelled at me " have you heard the word protein" and she is the reason that I eat meat, fish, chicken etc.
and yes,
Her medical certificate is on her wall... so I know she is ridgy didge.

Nettermann: so that gives us the right to do with animals whatever we like, uihhh
I am so sorry, but we really have different views and values on this topic...this debate could go on forever, and invite all sorts of trouble.. so Cheers.

lot of doctors do know nothing about nutrition, believe me i am a vegan and i am well informed about nutrition, nobody in the industrialized countries is suffering from a lack of proteins even vegans and vegetarians. Especially legumes are rich of proteins.Lot of doctors also pretend that a vegan diet would be unhealthy even if it wasnt true.
