Just a small reminder of the help they have given us before and a little song to remember!

Over There

"Johnnie, get your gun,
Get your gun, get your gun,
Take it on the run,
On the run, on the run.
Hear them calling, you and me,
Every son of liberty.
Hurry right away,
No delay, go today,
Make your daddy glad
To have had such a lad.
Tell your sweetheart not to pine,
To be proud her boy's in line.
(chorus sung twice)

Johnnie, get your gun,
Get your gun, get your gun,
Johnnie show the Hun
Who's a son of a gun.
Hoist the flag and let her fly,
Yankee Doodle do or die.
Pack your little kit,
Show your grit, do your bit.
Yankee to the ranks,
From the towns and the tanks.
Make your mother proud of you,
And the old Red, White and Blue.
(chorus sung twice)

Chorus
Over there, over there,
Send the word, send the word over there -
That the Yanks are coming,
The Yanks are coming,
The drums rum-tumming
Everywhere.
So prepare, say a prayer,
Send the word, send the word to beware.
We'll be over, we're coming over,
And we won't come back till it's over
Over there."

From what I've seen most policemen have superiority issues. They are suppose to make us feel safe, but lately all you see is police officers attacking people and making BIG mistakes for no reason.

Have you been watching the news?

Well, they have their faults and I don't always agree with their policies but at the same time I can't help thinking what sort of a world we would live in today if it wasn't for them.

America has a relatively short history, if you consider the extensive histories of other countries. To me, America is like a new bully on the block. We're the new kid on the block, but we're going to bully everyone else into playing by our rules. And we're not going to allow anyone else to become a bigger bully than we are. And we're going to stick our nose in everyone's business to make sure no one is getting any ideas about trying to take over our neighborhood.

Sad way to feel about my own country, but that's the way it is.

Yeah, that is sad. America may be the new kid on the block, but her short history has saved a lot of asses out there country wise. But that's not even what this is about.. people will always feel the way you do about America.. it's because she is great. If she were a mousy country that didn't get involved regardless of how those who need help feel about her, no one would have a damn thing to say.

I love America. I'm very proud to live here. I hope you feel free to go live somewhere else... this is America after all, and you have the right to do that! Just sayin...

Although we may be a new country, we have one of the oldest standing contitutions and governments in the world. It's far from perfect, but not bad. Media plays a big role in what we see from all countries. Just like many police officers who are assaulted on average once per month. They deal with daily situations that most people wouldn't experience once in their lifetime. But the media likes to expose the mistakes, or only a portion of the film clips to make the cops look bad whether they are right or wrong. They media also does this on an international level....it sells. Bullies or not, I think USA has certainly done much more good than harm. Billions and billions of dollars in aid, military, financial help to many countries, knowing we'll get little or nothing in return. That doesn't seem like a bully to me. And that comes out of the citizens pockets, to help other countries, whether we like it or not.

Good Point!

Every Country seems to talk about America just sub-existing? Until their Financial Aid is cut or threatened? Then they're singing a different tune?

I could not agree with you more, or Blain also with the statement he made regarding our country's foreign aid policy...ya, they all want the money "no strings" uh-uh, not happening. America's like a woman - no NSA.

Trust me, as this is an international forum, there are plenty of Americans who would love to pull your foreign aid off the books and spend it here at home, bring our troops home & let y'all finance your own interests. But it doesn't work that way. Political boundaries are almost meaningless in this day and age. We have a right to protect our interests where we have investments of money and personnel. That's often the trade off. For better or for worse.

As a policeman we are reasonably benevolent.

There is a reason that the german civilians literally streamed into the American Sector of Berlin just before the sectors were closed off - after the fall of Berlin in WW2. The German civilians knew that the American soldiers were by far the most benevolent. If anything we are not firm enough sometimes.

Last time Malta was over conquered and over run, it was the Brits in WWII. But then the Germans decided they needed to be were the Brit were. So they bombed the heck out of Malta. But the Brits held on and Malta survived WWII. Other than a amphious landing by some American yachts, when was the last time American conquered Malta?

Englund rewrote our constitution after we borrowed money from them...

America is a great nation. Whilst you all have freedom of speech, democracy, the ability to make yourselves wealthy, all the seasons, two oceans, some of the best looking women on earth, and so much that most of the civilized world admires, its impossible to write all your positives down without jotting down several million words. Yes...I agree you have your faults.....that aside, given the choice most people on earth would choose to move to the US rather than any other country in the world. Some will disagree with what I say, they haven't tried living in undesirable countries so couldn't possibly comment!

Britain was once the hub of the free and democratic world, wealthy and the place you'd want to get to and die in. These days we are a pitiful and poor nation on the brink of financial ruin. We have no countries to steal from anymore, neither can we just wage war on those innocent third world countries to seize all their assets. Our foes are hidden away today and waiting for the right moment to strike at us. Wars in the middle east and of the future will be our downfall, maybe yours too. Your size will always make you a force to be reckoned with, us we are just a blip in the north sea.

So just remember when you sit at home in front of TV's or at your PC's tonight/today how lucky you are! Even just posting comments on public Internet fora is a perfect example of yours and my freedom! wine To all you Americans who still love your country!
professor To those that think the grass is greener elsewhere!
