russianbandit49: as a American. who really cares who wins the world cup.
If you don’t like soccer, just keep you out of this thread. Here in Argentina ‘el fútbol’ is more than a simple sport; it is a kind of religion. People are absolutely euphoric now that the team won the 3 first games.
We still have till Sunday's match with Ghana....to feel as good as anyone in the world about the US side. Being in the top 16 in the world is no small feat. Last time we advanced out of a bracket, in first.... was 1930....81 years ago. So having 96 hours to enjoy it, is not to much to ask for.
I could say at this point...were is France? were is Russia? Were is Hungary? Belgium? Ireland? And alot of others....those are all great fotbol playing countries. Yet the US of A is still around in this World Cup.
By the way. Y'all need to be concerned for your countries soccer futures.
I know of America's dedication and will power to achieve and excell......when you see those video images of a American bar exploding in cheering on Dovonan's goal...those are the parents of the next generation of American soccer players.
Quality sports programs in the US require the parents supporting their child at a very young age to participate and to excell. What did you see in those future soccer parents faces? I know what I saw.....1000s of kids being supported to play the sport....

Bloody well said mate. Soccer is the most participated youth sport in the USA.

I also believe that you will beat Ghana.
And I believe that Uruguay will beat Korea and afterward they will beat also to the winer from USA/Ghana match. Uruguay is lucky in this Cup and they will go far. Remember what I say.

I have Uruguay to go through to the Semi's and play Brazil..so I agree with you!
I still reckon it will be Brazil v Argentina in the finals.

Well yes I think Uruguay are playing well. So are Argentina, but they haven't had much competition to date. I am hoping that Portugal will come thru today - but think it depends who scores the first goal! Brazil are playing without Kaka although of course there are many other great players. Remember Brazil only just managed to beat N Korea 2-1 whereas Portugal gave them a thrashing 7-0!!! The final??? Who knows! At the rate the favourites have been dropping out I am scared to hazard a guess!!! All been very entertaining, that's for sure!

heidi2765: Just a statistic that the TV was showing here, since 1986 Germany have never lost in the round after the group stages!
BUT if it weren't for bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all, Schweinsteiger and Boateng are both injured.Off to watch Portugal-Brazil this afternoon. SAMBA

I hope this will happen, but it is not the first time USA is doing well, not as well as this time, but well.
Most of the countries you mentioned above did not qualify to go to S.A., besides France that embarassed themselves because of arguements in the team.
I wish you good luck in 2010, it will be great for football in the USA !

NOOOOOOOO.......I am just looking back to the last 3 Germany matches.....2 rotten refs, Klose's red card, Schweinsteiger injured. Bad luck even you must agree to that.
By the way just saw the English press, I was hoping that we don't have to see headlines like " Germ warfare" etc.
The comments here, England must be sh***ing in their pants to come out with that rubbish. Pity!
Saying that I was not having a dig at anybody on the forum, just makes me feel embarrased for the UK. I wonder when it will be possible to have light banter as we do here on the forum.
Just had to mention that.
Now.....Forca....no not Brazil, BUT P O R T U G A L!!!!
