Finally, the European Union is going after The Denmarki's: Reuters) - Denmark, under pressure from the European Union to improve its fiscal position but facing an election next year, forecast a slightly bigger government deficit in 2011 than previously envisioned.
In a new budget outlook on Monday, Denmark's center-right government said it expected a 2011 public sector deficit of 4.7 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), against a previous 4.4 percent estimate made in August.
Battling rising public spending this year and an ever growing number of state employees, Finance Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen vowed to get spending under control next year.
"It is obvious that I am also worried about the development in public spending, and it is clear that we are at the highest level in the EU, the highest level ever (for Denmark)," Frederiksen told a press briefing.
"Therefore, we can say that if the public spending growth continues, we will face a very nasty structural problem in 2030," Frederiksen said.The government raised its 2010 GDP growth forecast to 2.0 percent versus an earlier projection of 1.4 percent, but saw the rate of expansion falling to 1.7 percent in 2011, slightly below its earlier forecast.
It forecast that GDP growth would slow to 1.5 percent in 2012. GDP shrank by 5.2 percent in 2009.
"The higher costs in 2010 are due to a remarkable growth in the number of state employees, and we expect 12,500 more people to be employed by the state this year than last year, Frederiksen said.""In 2011 we expect 3,500 fewer state employees than this year."
SELF-SUSTAINED GROWTH
For 2010, the public sector deficit is expected to be a full percentage point below the previous estimate of 4.6 percent, though that is due to an unusual tax situation and even for this year spending is higher than earlier predicted.
"Unusually high income from the tax on revenues on pension investments (which is very volatile) has caused a lower forecast for the deficit this year," the finance ministry said.
Like other European countries, Denmark borrowed heavily in the 2008-09 financial crisis to bolster the economy. It has planned to start tightening fiscal policy next year to move toward the euro zone's 3 percent of GDP deficit limit.
"It is our belief that we are now moving into a self-sustaining upturn, and therefore we can start the rebuilding of the Danish economy in 2011," Frederiksen said.
"Growth in private consumption, demand, export and investment are expected to drive that growth," Frederiksen said.

Time is still hard in America and even in my thread many ameircans are still disapointed and do not accept that the president of the country is doing the best possible job concidering the real situation of american economy and the huge challenge this president have been trying to take care of... because when he took office the last 80 years greatest Recession was Certaily ON and two full scaled Wars with America deeply involved were Reality as well!
A huge disapointment for many americans lately was the deal made with the Republican party lately and one of the most important promisses of the president was partly broken becuase he knows that he could not possibly keep fighting this fight while millions of americans were going to loose the necessary money for existens after december the 31 and the president was forced to Cave parlty and accepting the Deal even he opposed it major time and still does.
He promised to reach the isle during his campain and that is exactly what he was forced to do and still a progressin guy as my self beleive that he could fight more against that but politics are much more complicated than a simple guy like my self can understand some times, and it seems like standing in the corner and hailing the boxer beating up the huge guy is easier to participate in the fight one self... and some times even a president gets knocked down

You forget when there is an increase in taxes, there is also an increase on taxes for corporations and SMALL BUSINESSES!!! If you tax SMALL BUSINESSES you increase the amount of money you take away from them, thus you increase their chances of failing, filing for bankruptcy, etc... Its a disaster of small businesses. not only that, but even if you skip the taxes on small businesses, the people you DO tax are still being taxed more meaning more money out of their pockets so they still cannot afford to buy anything on the menial pay temporary government jobs pay! Increased taxes and government spending is KILLING small businesses and middle America. The best thing to do is go with the republicans! decreased taxes may put us in a position to accumulate more debt as a country, but what is more important? paying off a debt immediately or making sure everyone has food on the table? by allowing business to grow and handing more money to the American people by cutting taxes. It stimulates spending, companies grow, thus there is a demand for labor. Once we grow the job market, increased taxes can come into play, but for now, it is all about getting job demand out there.
And you will never grow job demand for people out of work if they keep getting unemployment checks! We cannot PAY people who do not want to work because the ARE GETTING PAID WITH OUR TAXES! And dont say there are no jobs out there. work at a supermarket for God's sake. at least you get a steady income off of taxpayer money so we can actually accumulate some wealth in our government and you can recieve health benefits and put into a retirment account!

A huge disapointment for many americans lately was the deal made with the Republican party lately and one of the most important promisses of the president was partly broken becuase he knows that he could not possibly keep fighting this fight while millions of americans were going to loose the necessary money for existens after december the 31 and the president was forced to Cave parlty and accepting the Deal even he opposed it major time and still does.
He promised to reach the isle during his campain and that is exactly what he was forced to do and still a progressin guy as my self beleive that he could fight more against that but politics are much more complicated than a simple guy like my self can understand some times, and it seems like standing in the corner and hailing the boxer beating up the huge guy is easier to participate in the fight one self... and some times even a president gets knocked down
The good thing is he is going to stand up firmly again and this defeat together with lost of majority of the House is not going to make him loose his abilities to run the country and political opponents getting power during trouble time is normal both in America but also most other place on the entire planet Earth!

Thank you Dude, I didn't realize, please don't think because I am not cutting and "GLUING" or gathering and posting bias propaganda that I do not understand Econ I or II. You will never win the argument anyway, Obama himself will see to that! If his mismanagement doesn't stop soon, we will never dig ourselves out.
