illu_66: not at all. A relationship ISN'T dating onwards. It's those little intangibles, knowledge of someone's humnour, knowing their likes and dislikes, their pet's name as a child, etc THOSE are the foundation of a true friendship and FRIENDSHIP is the foundation of a 'relationship'. Many people here are confusing 'relationship' with 'going out together'.
You can build those foundations online and take it inti reality later. But ALL that previous stuff WAS 'relationship building'

It not up to anyone else, but the people involved. Why should outsiders have the right to define whether something is a relationship, or not?
If folk don't have the right to call it a relationship, then logically flirting/chatting etc online behind a partner's back cannot be counted as infidelity.
I bet most people would be a teeny weeny bit miffed by that...
In my opinion you never really know a person untill you have met in person and dated for awhile..So it really is not a relationship untill this happens.. If it is just a chat friend its not a relationship other than a friendship. I guess it also depends on what someone terms a relationship is? Falling in love with someone simply because of words they type online and their photo, without ever meeting in person, is in my opinion kinda silly and could lead to a recipe for disasterous results with one or both parties getting hurt and disappointed.
