This is for women and men to answer. The reason that I created this poll is because dinner and a movie is boring to me. I would rather do something fun and unique on a date. Maybe play paint ball or go to a haunted house.

Dinner out is always a nice way to get to know someone, in my opinion. But, a movie, not so much because you sit there in the dark, no conversation, nothing....after dinner, maybe dancing or something else..just a movie to me is just not an opportunity to actually talk and interact with someone. JMHO.

It would depend. What was the movie about, was the food good and was the company who I wanted to be with.

It's the old standard dating cliche, dinner and a movie, but I think it would only be boring if you found the guy boring. If you've met and really clicked, I think it's an awesome way to spend an evening. Time to chat, time to sit in the movie and hold hands, or even make out in the back row if you've REALLY hit it off.
I think the more time there is to chat on a date, espec the first couple of dates, the better. I do know some guys who like taking girls to movies on first dates because they don't have to talk to the girls.

if it's a first date it needs to be simple, especially if it's an online Bud who I am meeting for the first time. Just a place to chat a bit to see if there's a spark or if we want to do more
I really don't wanna eat dinner in front of someone I just met

Dinner is fine, movie is boring. Besides, we can play both paintballs and haunted house at... my house. So, let's go

Can't talk in the movies, whereas dinner gives you the chnce to get know the other person....nice restaurant, good food and wine....and if its a nice guy with good conversation - then that works for me. Time for fun thing later on
my ideal first date, which i usually do is a coffeshop.having a late with tiramisu and have good talk to know does it worth meet her again.i love movies but its a waste of time in the first date.
Hi , i like takeing our grandaughter to the bigger musums & we have a nice time do a bit of photography as well so theres a good place & parks have some nice walks as well.
venusenvy: I hate the movie thing for a first date...Its awkward and you cant talk and get to know each other...Movie dates are for farther down the line
totally agree its much nicer on a first date to have dinner so you can chat and get to know each other

For a first date I don't like the idea of either one...
Can be hard to talk...and messy
To me dinner and a movie is for those who have been dating for awhile.
Could think of nothing more boring than a movie on a first date ...
I do remember some early (teenage) dates when going to the movies was the perfect place for a snog didn't catch much of the film though.
An activity that would allow chatting in an informal atmosphere would be my preference. Afternoon tea and cake somewhere chilled ... can strech into the evening if you hit it off...
If it's a 1st date, then personally I wouldn't go for a movie. You will want to spend time with this person, get to know them better, and that isn't 'doable' at a movie.
Dinner, on the other hand, would be good, plenty of time between courses to chat etc.
a movie, followed by coffee and cake, is a nice way to spend the evening :) On the Coast here, our local cinema has a whole row of restaurants/cafes in the same strip, its lovely to come out of the movie, then call in on a whim to any one of the cafes/restaurants for an after-movie coffee/cake :)
I miss the days of the drive in theatres, and especially the dusk to dawn shows. Those were always good for a date, BYOB, head to the concession during the break for cheesy chili dogs and popcorn.
Cuddled up in the back of the truck under a couple sleeping bags.....I miss my teenage years, dating was so much more simple then.

yeah, i miss the drive-ins too...they were SO much fun! (even if not on a date, if you were going with a bunch of mates, it was a cool way to spend the evening)

Yep, that was always fun too, even though some idiot usually ended up too drunk, then puking on someone else's car, and fight broke out, which turned into a brawl, one or three ended up in the hospital with minor injuries, etc....actually, I miss all that too.

*Sigh*...Yeah, oh how I miss those days...
Used to love sneaking my cousin, or some mates in, under the blanket in the back of the Gemini van, hearing them giggling away under the blanket, as we drove through the gate
