I know the use of ventilators means serious business and wondered if the use of a BI-PAP machine would be effective for people who have breathing problems but not need to be hospitalized. So... I did some research to find the answer to my question.
Background: BI-PAP (and similar CPAP) is a medical device that pumps air into a mask to increase the airflow and help people with breathing or sinus problems. CPAP only pumps at one level. BI-PAP has a valve to shut off the pressure on exhale. I'm guessing, but it must be computer controlled to synchronize with a persons breathing to maximize the correct airflow.
In problem situations a BI-PAP machine combined with oxygen can be used on patients with respiratory insufficiency.
One of the problems with COVID-19 disease is it attacks the lungs and blocks the transfer of oxygen.
I found one link to a company who specialize in sales of these machines and stated (on their website update page) the FDA has approved the equipment with certain modifications and they have no shortage of inventory.
If this information is true/accurate that means people can get help quickly while waiting for a ventilator to arrive.
My blog was about the president (and not a medical professional) giving medical advice. If the drugs mentioned had merit, he should have had a medical professional make the statement. Instead, Fauci came out with a warning statement that was totally opposite to the President.
I'm excited at the thought of turning my living room into a sterile manufacturing environment. However, I should hold off on the orders for 2 robotic welders until I know more about this!
molly, sorry for not being clear. Yes, virus-time. I think we are into the 4th week of people and their panic buying. Empty shelves on corporate stores, Walmart, Publix supermarket, Home Depot, Walgreens pharmacy to name a few. Friday morning at 8 is when Publix opened and they didn't have drinking water or paper products. Amazing to me, with the exception of the gourmet ice cream, all the standard ice cream selections were gone!
Trump's only priority is the economy. He will say and do anything he can to appease Americans. Without any facts, he set Easter as a target date and doesn't care what the medical professionals say. Saving lives now isn't his goal.
Have you seen one of the recent coronavirus polls? 59 percent of Americans say Trump's Easter timeline is 'too soon' to restart economy That is unbalanced as 42% of the Republicans say too soon and 75% of the Democrats say it's too soon.
What if he gets his way and reopens businesses in 2 weeks and the coronavirus numbers skyrocket all across America?
Who do you listen to... President Trump or Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases?
They disagree totally.
"Trump played up a drug used to treat malaria as a potential "game-changer" in the fight against coronavirus, Fauci said the only evidence that the drug could be helpful was "anecdotal." Fauci has also contradicted Trump on the timetable for a vaccine and the severity of the outbreak."
Trump is not qualified to give medical advice or the results will be as accurate as his hurricane predictions. Remember that? Hopefully you didn't (foolishly) head for higher ground.
No mask indoors. Having trouble with a printer, I'm considering a trip to Office Depot. They will do delivery but it I don't get a $50 rebate when I return an old printer. Mask required for that transaction or consider is $50 savings worth going out for. A chance to consider.
Not sure if my my response was related to your question.
Can I fly a mini-drone indoors alone? Sure.
I have a few high-performance model helicopters that are 3 feet long and it's been a few months since I've flown due to windy weather and preparation of a house sale. That was what I really wanted to do. Today is sunny with moderate winds and going out to the field to fly was much anticipated. the public park on lockdown changed my plans.
Palm, I bought 2 mini-drones for indoors so I can compete with my granddaughter. They have an attachment to glide on the floor like a hovercraft. Right now that's on hold for a while.
usha123 "Promoting chloroquine may be something else. This is a problem with pharmaceutical companies. Who is investing and whose funding political campaigns."
Interesting perspective usha. Follow the money. Thanks for your comment.
I found an interesting video about COVID-19 and 16 minutes in is an explanation about the importance of soap. Since the virus is not bacterial, antibacterial soap will not be any more effective than regular soap.
