I don't think it's fair of you to say that, but if someone's mind is not in sound condition, does that make it okay to attack them personally with a blog like this and mean posts?
Or should we show a little more concern?
It's one thing finding fault with someone's argument, or debate technique, but this is another.
I really do get people's frustrations, but suely there's a better way to handle our exasperation?
Huge businesses, side by side and feeding off those with next to nothing, or nothing.
Yet we seem to have more of a negative and emotional response to religious institutions (who take part in business) than business institutions (who take part in religion).
But again, that's not every Catholic, nor every Christian, nor every Muslim.
You can criticise some aspects of organised religious groups, or some individuals, or even some groups of people, but to condemn religion, or all religious people as as a whole is prejudiced and unfair.
I came across an organisation recently which whilst being based in a religious community, offers much needed services for free seperate to that.
Although I do remember being very cross about the Catholic church donating something like £16,000 to build a new church in a disaster area where people were living in flimsy tents with no food in harsh weather conditions. It seemed totally inappropriate and manipulative to me. You can pray and worship outside, but you can't live there for long with no food.
And that's way scarier because it brings them in close, makes them like you and me.
But it's about time we were big enough to handle that and stop expecting children to carry the can on their own. We need to recognise our own part in this, our compliance with how our societies are structured.
We are all equal. No one person is better, more important, more worthy of a happy, fulfilling life than any other. We are each accountable for our actions within the boundaries of our capabilities.
And we are all capable of so much more if we allow ourselves and others to learn, grow and change. We need to allow change to happen. We need to push for change to happen.
No, I'm not joking, or insinuating anything, tatami.
I'm genuinely curious why people object to eating some animals, but not others.
I eat some forms of fish, mostly because I have such a restricted diet due to allergies, but I don't feel entirely comfortable with it. Fish is my comprimise because they're not exactly emotional creatures, with only a swollen brain stem, rather than a developed brain. I'd be hard pushed to put an insect, or grub in my mouth, however.
I have wondered if it's to do with the intelligence, or sentience of the animal, but a pig is way more intelligent than a dog and I doubt crocodiles require much love and affection.
I'm guessing for a lot of people it's either about emotional attachment, societal norms, or sqeamishness of some sort.
And I suspect it's different for everyone, so I was asking for people's thoughts and feelings on the subject.
