I can't reel off any answers, but there is a big difference between killing someone through arrogantly, or negligently driving the morning after, being Richard Kuklinski and everything inbetween.
I could have done without the graphic content of your post, but thankyou for your understanding, Mic.
If the system has a complete and total disregard for human suffering, is it surprising that the message to those who are a part of the system itself, or those who are living in the shadow of it's culture, is to completely and totally disregard human suffering?
Is it surprising that some can't, or won't critically assess the message which is brought to them by express, recorded delivery?
"Sir, Madam, if you could just sign for your delivery right there..."
During a peaceful protest in London on Sunday night a group of 300 protesters who were observing social distancing were kettled into a small space with some force by officers in riot gear for a period of 6 hours without food, water, or toileting facilities.
They were eventually slowly released, sometimes one by one so they had no independent witness present. On released they were each surrounded by a large group of police to have their photo and personal details taken.
Many were young, some minors. They were detained long after public transport had closed for the night many with no battery life on their phones, and little money.
It has been reported that one young woman was hit with a baton by a police officer in riot gear for asking to be released because her dad was expecting to meet up with her.
There were some disturbances, but protesters who had thrown water bottles at police escaped the kettling.
I really don't get this guff about respecting a piece of cloth more than human beings, like kneeling in deference is worse that kneeling on someone's neck.
Standing united for a flag and a tune that represents a country which actively promotes racial discrimination through it's authorities' actions and inactions is not true unity.
If Aaron Brees wants to truly unite with equality for all he should be down on one knee with the rest of his team.
The photos look strikingly different, but it is the same man.
Different devices will distort images and I suspect the pic from the mobile device is slightly elongated compared with the mug shot. Perspective, so the angle of the face to the camera also alters proportions, including the distance between ear and head. Lighting affects perceived proportion because of shadow, as well as reflecting off, or passing through hair changing how much is highlighted and visible.
My greatest talent as a tailor is probably the ability to manipulate illusion to enhance, rather than to mar appearance. The sun glasses on Chauvin's head coupled with the extra beard growth creates the illusion of a different face shape: we tend to assume structure behind areas that are masked which may, or may not be there.
Ah no, Merc's first language is Australian - we don't understand a word she says. (I'm going to be in so much trouble when she reads this.)
Anyway, you've made a big splash with me tonight in your own quiet way. It's half past four in the morning, the sun has risen...and I'm still watching dog rescue videos.
It's not all your fault.
Somebody smashed my neighbours window not long after midnight just as I was about to go to sleep. A young man who is annoyed that she doesn't want anything to do with him is suspected, but thankfully she wasn't at home when it happened. The windows are difficult to break and the noise had us all leaping out of our skins wondering what was happening.
We were all out from our small block of flats, calling the police, the landlord to get the window boarded up, clearing up glass and generally guarding her home until it was secure. After all that, I couldn't sleep, which is not your fault.
Just the bit about watching dog rescue videos is your fault.
For example, if Chauvin says he believed that George Floyd could breath (he says on the video something about Floyd having no trouble talking) and that he believed Floyd was trying it on, it may affect 'beyond reasonable doubt' if the charge is first degree murder.
If the three symptoms (loss of bladder control, eyes bulging, turning blue) could be symptomatic of a non-emergency medical event, then clearly that will be used. I just can't think of anything non-catastrophic which could lead to those symptoms.
It is possible that Chauvin wasn't aware of those particular symptoms because they were out of his line of view, but the other police officer was standing watching.
No matter what we can see in the video, there will be a defence, unless there's some kind of plea deal where Chauvin pleads guilty to a lesser charge. That could have social ramifications, though.
It seems simple having seen the video, but I think it's going to be a complicated case on many levels.
RE: Derek Chauvin arrested for death of George Floyd
Not everyone has the capacity for change, either.I have a sneaking suspicion from his videotaped behaviour that Derek Chauvin might be one of those who has a neuron, or two missing.
