At the beginning there was one outrageous prediction that 60,000 people could die in the UK before it was all over.
At the time of the worst case scenario prediction, I worked out that in the US, the per capita equivalent would be 200,000.
We're at 66,00+, you're at 300,00+.
It is rife here. Three of my grandchildren are in quarantine due to outbreaks in their schools. Only the 2 year old can go out, although none of them are showing symptoms thankfully. In the beginning, it was thought children were more, or less immune.
I hope to visit and see all four of them one day next week to give them their Christmas gifts. I might have to leave the gifts by the front door and have a shouted conversation through a first floor window if any of them show signs of infection.
It might be my only opportunity too see them for at least a month. I'm going to miss my granddaughter's 10th birthday (my eldest grandchild, my first born) because we will be back on lockdown at 6pm n the 28th December.
We will likely have all been infected long before we get the opportunity to have a vaccine.
I once walked into Habitat and found a sofa wearing the same frock as me.
That was in my student days when Habitat used to sell lovely offcuts for pennies.
It'll be a while before I've completed renovations and decorated my flat, but I'm so looking forward to having my workshop back and getting creative. I have a lot of curtains, blinds and re-upholstering to get my teeth into.
With all those video games you play, I imagine you have very good hand-eye co-ordination and will have no problem passing your driving test first time.
I hope your mum has only mild symptoms and recovers quickly.
Yeah, I could see how much effort it took to win that round despite the size difference. It's not like that auld fell a had puny hands by any stretch of the imagination.
It had crossed my mind there might be bigger alligators around when he was in that water. Watching the video I was willing him to get out fast even though I knew it all turned out alright.
I once had to hoik my 30kilo lurcher out of a small, but swollen and fast flowing river.
The look of fear on his face when he thought he was going under followed by the love and relief when he saw me coming in after him was well worth the primordial slime which ended up in my knickers.
My understanding was that any legal action has to be privately funded, that is from the Trump campaign funds.
The only recount which was eligible for tax-payer funding was Georgia.
Those funds can't be supported by corporations, but must come from individual US citizens. I suppose that's tax payers money, but indirectly and through choice.
As the Trump campaign website begging for people's hard-earned is less than transparent, it may be a choice to donate, but it's hardly an informed one.
Aah, I get it. It's the man who runs across the platform.
What happened is much clearer in the second report.
It's a heartbreaking story all round, for the woman who must surely be traumatised, for the witnesses, the driver and the chap with mental health issues.
You need a health service, you need to address homelessness. We have unacceptable welfare issues in the UK, but you appear to have far greater social issues in the US.
I think we all need to be looking at how other countries do things to find the best and most functional ways to live.
Quite apart from the ethics of community neglect, it's simply a waste of resources when so many people aren't reaching their full potential.
What I'm seeing is a woman running full pelt across the platform towards the track and the man who she has physical contact with doesn't appear until she's near the edge.
I couldn't say for certain what happened from that video.
Did she run with the intention of throwing herself in front of the train, or was she overly eager to get to the other side of the platform to catch the incoming train?
Did the man try to stop her from jumping, help her on her way, or push her off as she went to wait (at high speed) for the incoming train?
The report suggests the man did not try to run away, or resist arrest. I find that curious if he had just pushed her off the platform.
If it's possible that he was trying to stop her from jumping, it would be pretty horrible to be publicly vilified for pushing her. I'll reserve judgement given the lack of definitive proof.
Unless he has insider information which somehow guarantees he won't be prosecuted, is it likely he'll hang around to find out?
He's already talked about maybe leaving the country if he loses to Biden, not because he's done anything wrong of course, but because of the ridiculousness of him losing to such poor opposition.
The loss will be touted as a result of fraud and he'll just happen to pick a country with no extradition treaty with the US. He'll take every opportunity available to him to remain in the world spotlight and to con people out of their money, or labour as he has always done.
What he does with his time will at least in some part be unexpected given his propensity for opportunistic chiselling.
Your blog made me realise how nice it is not having cigarette smoke infiltrating my kitchen through pipe holes. Goodness knows what she was smoking, but it wasn't your average tobacco, nor was it pleasantly green.
I'm hoping whoever moves in when it's ready is a dope fiend. At least my kitchen will smell herbaceous and chores will become a mellow experience.
