I cannot watch the youtube video you posted on CS (I can post but not watch), so I am dropping by to say hi and hope you enjoy your weekend!
Too bad you cannot watch this...check out 20/20 news program if you are able...it is an eye opener for sure...cults exist...in all religions...if I knew how to send it to you I would...have a great weekend!!
Am I surprised this goes on in some churches, no
If there was a God, how could He allow that behaviour to exist.
I'm not surprised! It happens everywhere.....
....
it goes to show you that there are problems with any religion...or so they say...fundamentalism happens to be problematic...no matter what religion...
Good to hear from you!!
Sad but true it happens in every religion and boys are included too.
I agree...better to recognize their true intentions...many do not...we need to question the practices...are they good?...
I wanted to high light the fact that most people want peace...regardless of our faith...there are many who step beyond the line...but peace is what is needed...perhaps what people want is not what governments want?...
I been over busy this week! Having to work 12 hours shifts everyday.
That was so sad! And tiring too!
I think alot of these holy books are works of fiction
coming from a fantastic imaginations,
Let us not for get that it is only in the last + - 70 years we
the humans have started to understand the workings of the mind
All of us came into this world without fear and hate
Then let us ask ourself Why do we need fear and hate to live?
The thing is, where would we be without our fantastic imaginations and propensity for creativity? There would be no music, for starters!
We also have a tendency to try and make sense of our worlds. It's just that maybe we need to start making a bit more sense than we are at the moment.
We need to establish the premiss before we can answer those questions:
re·li·gion
*the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
*a particular system of faith and worship.
*a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.
How would you define 'religion'?
Or perhaps we could apply the questions to more than one definition.
socieies and how thay are structured
Talking about change that will take another 100 years or more
socieies and how thay are structured
Talking about change that will take another 100 years or more
...but a change gonna come.
Encore, indeed.
Cool-runnings man..
Yes, we can call them what they are.
Human.
And that's way scarier because it brings them in close, makes them like you and me.
But it's about time we were big enough to handle that and stop expecting children to carry the can on their own. We need to recognise our own part in this, our compliance with how our societies are structured.
We are all equal. No one person is better, more important, more worthy of a happy, fulfilling life than any other. We are each accountable for our actions within the boundaries of our capabilities.
And we are all capable of so much more if we allow ourselves and others to learn, grow and change. We need to allow change to happen. We need to push for change to happen.
Otherwise, nothing will change.
It has to change. It will change.
That's been my favourite song since I was around that young man's age, but now that's by far my favourite rendition.
I confess to tears welling up. Just awesome.
Those are German people who belong to the same organization....and no no ulterior motive at all, some girls became a nuns, some became doctors, many became successful and give back to the organization to continue to help the needy. This is a catholic organization with no ulterior motives at all...simply want the younger generation to be better people, they are helping in any way they can. This is one example of the good that religion can do.
Z, they put up small clinics, small chapels, small youth centers in very poor areas in our province...they get nothing in return except the appreciation and gratefulness of the poor...their mission is to help and they did that.
I spent almost six years in that convent school so I know it by heart
I disagree. There are still many good people out there, you put them all together, they can do so much.
Is it really impossible to believe that religion and faith can make a person a better individual?
A film to see is machinegun preacher. Its a true based film, I believe he is still helping raise money and giving help
Although I do remember being very cross about the Catholic church donating something like £16,000 to build a new church in a disaster area where people were living in flimsy tents with no food in harsh weather conditions. It seemed totally inappropriate and manipulative to me. You can pray and worship outside, but you can't live there for long with no food.
I went home last summer and I found the church that I used to go to every Sunday was renovated, bigger and the priest have a rest house by the beach while so many people there are living in makeshift houses. I attended a mass one Sunday and I simply couldn't wait to get out of there. It's not the religion, it's those who lead and corrupt the followers
You can criticise some aspects of organised religious groups, or some individuals, or even some groups of people, but to condemn religion, or all religious people as as a whole is prejudiced and unfair.
I'm totally on your side...
There's going to be a group hug soon, I just know it.
