I have the same line of thoughts as Rahul, Gullie ans Balles. Tour guide: Meeting people. Teacher: Need patience and dedication. Office work: Sometime a competitive environment with constraints.
I would say for a long term profession with benefits, Teaching and Office work. Off course, there are many variables.
What do you have to lose? I understand that you are hesitant, but it is normal for anyone approaching a new job. Be prepared and you have to believe in yourself. The longer you let your fears linger, the less you will be inclined to go. If you get on well with people, a requirement to be a good waiter, you will be accepted if you have a good attitude and if you are friendly. Treat your customers the way you would like to be treated. The language part, you'll get that if you have the basics. To understand the profession, there is a lot of help on the internet. This is a link to Youtube about Waiter Training:
If I recall correctly, you can file a complaint with you phone company. I think they ask you first to file a complaint with your Police Department. This is the link to the contact form for the Police in Providence. You can ask them and they probably let you know the procedure to follow.
The good thing is you don't have to see the previous trilogy of the Lord of the ring to see the Hobbit. It stands on its own. I am not much into these stories, maybe a gender gap perhaps. But it is entertaining with the NZ scenery and special effects.
It's alright Non, myself I wouldn't consider it a great movie for adults, but for kids, they will enjoy it. More like Slapstick to me, but to each its own when it comes to taste in movies. I think the earlier one were a lot better.
All of this, sad as it is, will make you a better person. I empathize with your losses and sincerely hope that 2013 will be a better year for you and your loved one.
"Henceforth I will look upon all things with love and I will be born again. I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit. I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars. I will welcome happiness because it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness because it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards because they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles because they are my challenge. I will greet this day with love in my heart."
Augustine "Og" Mandino (12 December 1923 – 3 September 1996)
I think you are right in your assessment, but it is a matter of choice for the individuals. They know the risk involved and show great courage to pickup the pieces and keep on going in the face of disappointment. It is in the human persona to look for love and to dream. It can be the same here as in reality. The difference in this community, it is for all the virtual world to see. You give it a try and if it doesn't work, what have you lost. Maybe some pride. It would be really boring if you had to live in reality and couldn't live your dreams. There has to be some hope or anyone wouldn't be here. What is sad, if it doesn't work out, some people leave the site out of embarrassment. Foolish,I don't know. Who didn't do anything foolish in his or her life. We learn from our mistake, but in the case of relationship, it is easy to repeat the same one.
“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching, Love like you'll never be hurt, Sing like there's nobody listening, And live like it's heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey (b. August 22, 1929) author and professor emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
This is my opinion, it is in no way an implication on religion or any other beliefs.
When we consider that technology and science made a giant leap in the past century, it could be said that human kind took their time to arrive at this point since the past 10000 years. Even if we had 100 Einstein, I don't think we would be more knowledgeable about our origin and the secrets of the universe. It gives us a limited ability to understand, theorize and explore, but the universe is still out of our reach. Before 1900, we had a pot to pee in and now we can we can explore the nearest stars. Many theories, but are we closer to the answers? Humans are vain and think they are superior to other life forms because they think. It is this ability to think that is most likely to lead us on a path to destruction before we can reach the answers to the bigger questions. And maybe nature will find a way to show us who is really smarter. Were they previous advanced civilizations here or elsewhere, difficult to know and nobody can prove or disapprove these theories.
"The Fermi paradox (or Fermi's paradox) is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilization and humanity's lack of contact with, or evidence for, such civilizations. The basic points of the argument, made by physicists Enrico Fermi and Michael H. Hart, are:
* The Sun is a young star. There are billions of stars in the galaxy that are billions of years older; * Some of these stars likely have Earth-like planets which, if the Earth is typical, may develop intelligent life; * Presumably some of these civilizations will develop interstellar travel, as Earth seems likely to do; * At any practical pace of interstellar travel, the galaxy can be completely colonized in just a few tens of millions of years."
I do understand that, had to register myself for the Vietnam War and every 18 years old has to register since then. So, what would be the difference if women register? It doesn't mean that they would see combat and if in case of a large conflict, some would be in support capacities. There has been a reluctance to send women to the front line, but slowly the attitude is changing.
Personally, I think that 18 years old is a little too young to go to war. It has nothing to do with the difference in gender or generation, more like maturity of the individuals. Other than that, women have proven themselves in combat during WWII in the Russian Army.
The following quote is not a condemnation of your service, as you have my support and respect. Without talking of the right or wrong in the politics of war, it is a condemnation of war in general.
Stay safe!
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
