Yes, I'm glad I'm a morning gal, because it's so quiet and peaceful at that hour, not usually anyone else around. And you get to see things that very few others do.
Jim - for the most part, I think it's people that don't have a clue. However, when professionals are commenting, then I think, okay, what did I do right this time?
With a larger contributing membership, it stands to reason that the blogs move faster. Like many, I ignore most of the political bs unless it affects me in some way. Otherwise, I look for those people that write blogs that interest me and are generally upbeat.
Track - I had my fun at those kinds of events when I was 20, but now that I have to get up at 5:00 am for work on Sundays, my appreciation for that has definitely waned. While I have no objection to them having a good time and a festival, it should at least be in an area that doesn't disturb the entire community.
Rogue - I suspect that the guy by-passed all the fences and went down the lane directly to the barn. The farmer might want to install a metal electrified gate though - at the expense of the trespasser.
I concur. And no, there is zero respect shown to the locals. I wonder how that pounding bass all night for three nights affects the dairy cows? I know it aggravates the farmers and residents, big time. But I'm curious as to whether it affects the cows milk production. It'd be interesting to find out.
Pat - I can't say definitively, but I doubt our law enforcement is being compensated. Our police force is the RCMP - a federal entity. They are not allowed on First Nations land without permission (in fact no one is). First Nations have their own laws and are essentially, land unto themselves.
Pat - absolutely agree. This isn't the appropriate venue for them, and the only reason they have it on First Nations land, is because they don't have to abide by the laws of the rest of the community.
xquseme- I love my new bike! So much easier to pedal. The only thing I'm having a bit of an issue with is the seat - adjusting it to the way I want it. It's not quite as comfy as my old bicycle seat, so I may just swap them. Other than that, my new bike is amazing and I'm so glad I bought it!
johnjim - ugh, I think I'd be letting the garden die if I had to pack water. I did that enough upcountry for the horses when the pipes froze. Never again. Not for anything.
Fay - I've never tried to grow an eggplant, so I have no idea how it would do. I've got a fairly small plot of garden, which suits me fine, and what's growing there right now is just dandy. Next year I'll consider growing other things.
Re: the dead bee. That fascinated me, to see that bee on the dead flower, and it preserved as if it was still alive. I'm amazed that it even caught my eye, as there was so much other live stuff around there.
G-Jim - yup, it's that time of year! I had two ears of corn for lunch yesterday, it was so darn good. I love this time of year for all the fresh produce.
KN - your garden sounds like it's been a labour of love! Hopefully your neighbours will keep up with the watering and it'll be just as lush as it is now.
Ha ha ha - and yet the supporters that like to call everyone else liars and hypocrites don't see what a liar and hypocrite they support. It's a known fact he lies on average 5.6 times per day about anything, the liar in chief. And hypocrisy? Not only does the family have their stuff made overseas, the WHO has ensured they're tariff free!
Yep, they'd best look in the mirror for their own lies and hypocrisy before they start pointing fingers. They'd also best remember that in pointing fingers, there's three pointing back at themselves.
Biff - they've probably got flavour because they haven't been shipped and sat in a warehouse for weeks. They've also probably been picked when ripe, and not when still green and left to ripen in shipping.
There's a lot to be said for fresh local fruit and veggies.
Bearwoman - seeing as we have a fire ban on, the likelihood of cooking anything on an open fire is slim to nil. So the bbq will have to suffice, although it does make for some delicious corn.
When I was a little girl, Dad would dig up the potatoes we'd grown, wrap them in foil, and bury them in the pile of leaves that he was burning. He'd send me in to grab the butter dish, and we'd sit on the low wall across from the garden, swiping our potatoes across the butter before taking a bite. The best potatoes I've ever had!
Fay - every region has something great to offer in the way of foods. I don't know that I could handle not having our corn though. lol. I love honeydew and watermelon, but cantaloupe - yuck!
Jim - how lucky you are to be able to experience it twice.
It's been raspberry season here for a few weeks, and strawberries. Yum! The blackberries are ripening now as well, so there's good pickings along my bike route.
Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder
Fay - yes, I'm definitely my own worst critic.Yes, I'm glad I'm a morning gal, because it's so quiet and peaceful at that hour, not usually anyone else around. And you get to see things that very few others do.
