1to1 - well you keep ahold of that couch. Never know what these winds might carry off. It is brutally cold isn't it? Fortunately, up until now, we've had a super mild winter, and I'm loving that!
Biff - there isn't much snow here, but the wind is fierce. Thought my sinuses were going to freeze when I stepped out to take a photo. Brrr!
As for the hummingbirds - the Anna's Hummingbird lives here all year round now, due to milder temperatures and great places to build their nests. Although, today, you certainly wouldn't know about the milder temps.
I also don't like driving at night, especially when it's raining. The glare of the headlights and reflection off the wet roads makes it really hard to see. I do have the yellow night driving glasses, and they do help a lot, but I'd prefer not to drive in the dark, at all.
However, the first hint of daylight, and I'm out! Funny though, I do ride my bike in the dark.
Glad to hear your Mom is doing better. (If you had any liniment, that would have worked great on her bruising). Also happy to hear your heating and water issues are finally resolved. That seems like it was a really long time.
We all have drama in our lives. Some thrive on it and need to create it wherever they go. Others prefer to enjoy life. I prefer to enjoy life and interact with people like yourself that aren't drama queens.
Glad to read your Mom's doing better. I can totally relate to the 'bland' part of cooking. Whenever my Mom's here it's like having to cook for a toddler. Bleah! But, we do what we do to accommodate them, just as they did for us.
It's funny how people feel about leftovers. I used to hate them and didn't want to have anything leftover. Now, I love them! There's nothing better than coming home late knowing that all you have to do is heat something up.
TR - if not for them, it sure works for me! lol. There are some people, that need an argument no matter where they go. Misery requires company in order to flourish. I choose not to indulge.
Well, there's $20 million dollars worth of dumb out there, that has donated to this guy's 'wall'. I'd say that those that say they contributed either don't want you to know how much they've been duped in dollars, or don't want you to know that they didn't donate at all.
I would venture to say you're right, it's not about whether there's a wall there, it's about supporting their cult leader so he can get his vanity wall. He doesn't want to admit that it's a really dumb, expensive, and inefficient idea. He had Congress in his back pocket for two years and they still didn't okay the wall. Could it be, that there are smarter people in Congress?
Blaming the Democrats is absolutely absurd. He had two years of Republican control of Congress and they still didn't okay it. The problem isn't the Democrats.
I don't buy fruit at the supermarket, only at the local produce store. Amazingly enough, the produce store is less expensive than the supermarkets and their produce is much fresher.
I don't eat bananas, so wouldn't have a clue how much time you'd need to ripen them. I do know if you put avocados next to apples, they'll ripen pdq. I'm still eating fresh tomatoes from my garden last summer. You're right, those anemic looking things called tomatoes purchased in stores don't even come close.
marlin dap - I'm not sure I quite agree with that statement, as I do know some Christians that apply what's in the bible to themselves - much like any of the self-help books these days. The lip-service Christians are the one's that like to point fingers and judgments without ever looking to themselves. That's where I would agree with you, as they're too busy 'believing' to actually look inside themselves to see that's where they need to focus. You know, that plank in the eye thing?
mischief - yes, on here, there are some that are simply lip-service Christians as their behaviour is far from anything taught in the bible. It's one of those, if you don't believe as I do, then you're an enemy. But zealots are in every country, not just the Middle East. #45 followers are the worst zealots, imo. Not only are they fanatical in their belief of the liar, they take it personally when other's voice an opinion and attack personally because of it. It only shows their own zealotry, willful ignorance, and yes, lack of integrity.
Socrates - Thanks for sharing the photo! I've never seen Mount Robson and would love to take a train through the Rockies. Sounds like you had a fantastic train trip.
Socrates - yes, Hell's Gate is called that for a reason. That river (the Fraser) runs next to the town I live in, and no, you wouldn't want to fall in it at any time of year. The power and fury of the river is simply amazing.
Wow, Bluesky - what a great experience that must have been. I think it'd be a great way to see any country. Passenger trains are still very much used in Europe - unfortunately, not here. They ditched them for cars, and now complain about traffic.
haha Bogart - easy to go to wrong places. We don't have passenger trains much anymore, and definitely not for regular transit. We had better transit in 1920 than we do now. So there's not much chance of going to the wrong place.
Work? Who Has Time?
Once you're fully retired, you'll be thinking, when did I ever have time to work?I posted a hummingbird photo on fb for you today.
