RE: Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I had to remind my 2 little granddaughters that they are just a wee little bit Irish from their grandpa's side.
We are having the traditional corned beef and cabbage tonight as well as pistachio cake for dessert.

RE: Punbelievable!

What did aunt Jemima say when she ran out of pancakes?

Oh how waffle

RE: Punbelievable!

Did you hear about the angry pancake?

He totally flipped!

RE: Hurray for spring......almost.

We don't get much "Spring" anymore. It seems we go from cold to hot. Between now and June, we may get a few "Springlike" days and then June comes and we get 80 degrees and we're off to summer. I remember going to an outdoor concert a few years back. It was in May and the windchill that evening was 10 degrees. I don't count on anything warm til at least June. dunno

RE: The Teachers pet

In grammar school there were teacher's pets. In 7th and 8th grade - our classes were combined. There were maybe 4 of us that were favored. We helped mark papers. We ran errands (within the school) and we were allowed to play volleyball with the teachers at lunchtime. I don't remember hearing any negative feedback from the others. It was a fun time and would probably be not allowed in this day and age.

RE: Rush Limbaugh's Wife Gives Heartbreaking Last Broadcast To His Listeners Today...

I remember watching him on TV back in the 90's. I liked him because he told it like it was. He just put it out there and let you figure out what to think.

RE: "Instant Karma gonna get ya..."

No sympathy here. These guys went in to learn how to kill people. 'Nuff said. They get what they get.
If that makes me callous and cold hearted - so be it.

RE: Up

Ahhh let us not forget UP as in Upper Peninsula of MI. I have relatives up there. laugh
With over 50 inches of snow last week up there - I just shake my head laugh

RE: For Those Who Like to recall the pop songs of 1960's

Anything Frank Sinatra

RE: Funeral Homes in Los Angeles are overwhelmed.

I'm not sure that I'm an "evangelist" type but also unsure of the vaccine. My sister is a front line worker. She is a nurse. She received the vaccine - both doses and reacted badly. Her doctor told her yesterday that it may take 3-4 months for her side effects to subside. dunno So I'm not sure how I feel about the vaccine.

RE: Hurray ! A sunny day !

Ahhh enjoy your sunshine! We're waiting on another 2-5 inches of that fluffy white stuff and then taking a plunge into really cold weather for the next week or so. Can't really complain - Winter in Chicago is Winter in Chicago. laugh

RE: GROUNDHOG DAY - Time For The Annual Awakening Of The Furry Forecasters!

Woodstock Willie is our local prognosticator - he didn't see his shadow! wave

RE: If you want 10 inches, or more....

No thank you! We have enough of our own! laugh Some more mess expected on Thursday. The older I get, the more I'm looking at Arizona laugh

RE: "One is the loneliest number you can ever do"

As I said, we'll see what happens. I'm not one to diss a President - well at least while he's in office.
If he repeals the payroll tax cut, everyone will see a difference - not just those making over $400,000.
He has to somehow pay for all his proposals somehow. I really hope that I am wrong.

RE: "One is the loneliest number you can ever do"

Unfortunately Jim, you are incorrect. It will not be country-wide. Over 70 million people don't agree with you.
We'll see what happens. I hope the country can bounce back but I don't have confidence that it will. I see higher taxes, higher gas prices and less money coming into my household - hopefully I'm wrong.

RE: What’s Your EASY WAY TO BE HAPPY?

Learning how not to sweat the small stuff. As I have gotten older, I've learned how to ask myself one simple question when dealing with conflict or confrontation. "Is it worth the argument that will ensue?" 95% of the time it is not. This has led to less stress and as a by product more happiness - for me anyway. laugh

RE: What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

This has been my favorite for a very long time and got me through some rough periods:
Philipians:

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I think of it as the origin of positive thinking

RE: OK step back....more.

Not a fan of clams with or without garlic laugh
Just popped in a big ole meatloaf that was a tad bigger than I planned on making..
Oh well, more leftovers. Add some mashed potatoes, broccoli and biscuits -
Voila! Dinner!
Cooking is easy!

RE: "Venezuelan “arepas”, world’s best breakfast"

Yes they are filled before cooking. Sometimes sweet filling, most times savory.

RE: "Venezuelan “arepas”, world’s best breakfast"

I've had Pupusas which I think are very similar. My son's girlfriend's family are originally from El Salvador and on any special occasion we are treated to Pupusas. I tried to make them once and ended up with hockey pucks! laugh

RE: Watching a Kid

Enjoy your time with him! They grow up so fast. wave

RE: Greyhound...

There used to be a dog track in Wisconsin but I think it closed a while back. On their concourse was
a counter where you could apply to adopt an older Greyhound that was unable to race anymore. I always
felt bad for those poor old dogs.

RE: The Christmas Cheer Blog

Merry Christmas Jonathan! wave gingerbread

RE: Why women only want the bad ones

I think a lot of women think they can "fix" or change some men and as we get older and wiser we know that seldom works.

RE: Terribly Unhealthy

We'll be baking shortly. I've had to add cut out cookies as the granddaughters love to decorate cookies. I've never been one to decorate cookies laugh The favorite of my group are kolochkys. While not too difficult to make, they are a bit time consuming. Have fun and enjoy yourself! I think a little home made treat would be a welcomed surprise - maybe a little slice of normalcy in these weird times. gingerbread

"No Thanks"

Hey Celtic! wave I'm sure she's as fed up as the rest of us. I have to admit when I first heard that sweet, polite, little "No Thanks" my first thought was wtf? laugh The good news is I heard her humming the 2 songs that we picked out. If I know her she will not be outdone by her 3 yr old sister rolling on the floor laughing The little one is a little spitfire. We've said for a while now that the older one might be the brains but the little one will be the enforcer. laugh

"No Thanks"

Hey Butcher! Ours were let out of school back in March. They did a few zoom classes especially with the little ones. I'm not sure how they worked it out with the older kids. Then in late August they were allowed to re-open but with safety protocols in place. My son and his girlfriend decided not to send her back because of the wearing of the masks all day long. So, here we are. dunno It's a lot more responsibility but we still feel that we are doing the right thing. If she even mentioned going back with her friends, I think they would allow her to do so but for now she keeps saying that she doesn't want to wear a mask all day. We have had a few "play dates" with a couple of her classmates but all within the required limits. It's been hard with no birthday parties and minimal holidays. We're still not sure how Christmas will play out. confused

RE: Lucked out....this time.

In all my years of living in Chicago, I had never heard of a tornado within the city. All around us, yes but not in the city proper. A few months ago, we were warned of bad weather to be rumbling through. That day, my phone and my son's phone went crazy with "tornado warnings". Right before the storm was to hit us, the phones again went crazy with "seek shelter" messages. We both just scratched our heads and blew it off. A few minutes later, the air raid sirens were going off. It was really, really windy and the rain was falling sideways but I still couldn't believe all the hubbub. Later that day on the news, we learned that an F1 tornado actually did touch down not too far from where I used to live. I sent a text to my brothers and my sister - "ok, we've had the plague (Covid), we've had the rioters and looters, we've had the locust (Cicadas) and now tornadoes in the city. When frogs start flying from the sky, I'm heading out of dodge." But I will pay closer attention if it ever happens again.

RE: He who laughs last

No Jim when the Biden tax plan hits - it will affect us all. When he closes down the entire nation and more businesses die because of it - it's on him. Our economy was doing great until the pandemic. More were working, more were bring home more money - fuel prices were low. That will all change under Biden. So we'll see what happens.

RE: He who laughs last

I'm waiting to see how it all plays out. If Biden won fair and square, I can accept that however I want to state here and now that I don't want to hear the cry babies when your taxes go up, when you're bringing home less money than you were and when the country is shut down and the economy dies. No blaming this on Trump - this will be of your own doing.
