The 2000 Tanks and APCs that Sadam had were all Soviet equipment.
His light infantary weapons were all Soviet. His artillery came from S. Africa. His SCUDs came from North Korea and Russia. 1/2 of his fighter were from France....the Mirages. The other half were
Soviet M-21s.

So what did the US give him? During the Iran and Iraq war the US provided him with satellite imagery. That told him were the build up of Iranian troops were. Were to focus his defense. There might have been some hard point bombs for Mirages. But the rest of our munitions are the wrong calibers for Soviet weapons to fire.

A half dozen states or more now are considering AZ immigration laws. With the AZ law likely going to the Supreme court for a ruling. A principle GOP legal expert is going after AG Holder.

Saying the Holder did not do enough on ACORN and on the three
Black Panther Poll Cases. The GOP legal expert, said the Holder should either resign or be cut lose....because he is hurting the
Obama administration.

This is not even taking into account...Holder's inconsistency on the GITMO hearings, his lack of trying the illegal aliens cases, and his blocking the AZ law.....and a failure to keep Obama care from being made unConstitutional.

Holder is increasingly the Obama Administration's weak link.The cog that would not cog. The wheel that spun in the wrong direction.

With the REP house coming to town....seeking.....to investigate the Obama Adminstration, Holder is going to be a key party of question. He has in the past been less than stellar in hearings.

The REP/Tea Party are now talking repeal of Obama Care. That
they have the numbers needed in the House.....and are only short 12 votes in the Senate to be vetoless. As more courts find it unconstitutional, they will gain public and political support for a repeal.

Honestly this blogger did not see it happening that way.....but it can...largely in degree to Holder's inability to defend it court.

They stepping out and trying it again, SB. The way I read that.

Both have problem within their political sides. Hardliners on both sides...want to keep the peace agreement from occurring. So they focus on the here and now....junk the historical issues as much as they can.

The South Korean leader has just made a major statement. That.....South Korea is open to peace talks with the North.....but are going the back to the 'drawing board on developing and overhauling their national defense'.

That they will not let North Korea 'covet one square inch of South Korea terrority."

On Jan 19th, the China leader will be in Washington for a State diner with President Obama.

The statement was well crafted. It gave both a military response if agressed and open door for peace talks.

Ball is back on the North Korea side of the DMZ. Till the 18th meeting of Jintao and Obama. I think.

I don't think that you are getting it.

Peace is made by those living today, in the here and now. They don't look 5, 10, 20 years into the past. If they do, there is to much history that comes into play.

So they just junk the history lessons and try to stay focused on the making the agreement.

It is like re-dating a old girl friend with a great memory. If you messed up the first time, the second time is not going to be any easier.

So they cut each other some slack....and don't bring up the past.

Look at what Abbas is talking about? Building Rawabi. A here and now issue. Look what Netanhyu is talking about? Immediate and continuous talks till a agreement is done.

I suggest they are junking the past, Gentlemen.

They finished about 1/2 of the total distance of the border in GWB final two years. That is part of the problem. The Drug cartel are fighting over the remain open areas.

As for alQeada getting 9/11 in on us. You better read the 9/11 Commission report. But mark the parts were Carter and Clinton degraded our CIA to the point were they did not have assesses in the Afghanistan and Pakistan regions as pretty reasons.

Most of the immigrants that came to the US were legalized thru the Ellis Island program. Prior to the countries first immigration acts, from the Revolutionary war period...citizenship was awarded on merit.

Example French Col Layeffete of the revolutionary war was offered US citizenship. He turned it down. Because it would have cost him
French citizenship.

Merit did not mean you just came here....and held a job and paid taxes. But were part of a militia, a land owner, or having other skills and talents that the country needed.

I have to admit SB...this thread has been a pleasure to hi jack for time. Some of us have been waiting for and praying for middle east peace for a long time.

I know you have mixed feelings right now. And part wants the struggle to continue. Or wants the Palestines to get the best deal
possible.

Peace is good for them both, SB.....it will help the entire region develop economically. And will save lives on both sides.

I don't mind you taking the "two state solution" and claiming it is a international community idea. The idea has been out there for many years and has been discussed greatly in the international community.

No one in the US gov't will claim it is their idea either. That I can think of. So if the international community wants it to be theirs idea....no problem here.

The last I heard Leigh....the 12 days of Christmas cost $23,439 to do.....once you get into 12 drummers drumming it get a tad pricey.

You can get 2/3 of a Volt for 12 Days of Christmas now. So for many it is within the range of economics for many.

But good to see you safely back in Crossville TN....home of the infamous Trade-A-Plane Magazine......if it flies, it is in Trade-A-Plane.

They even took a listing on the Balloon boy helium derrigible.....
the copy way..."used only once for a short one way trip in Colorado, slightly damaged.".

I disagree Wow. Not often but this time I do.

Gaza was to far a deployment for the IDF to make to protect the Isreali settlers. To do so, the IDF would have to traveled along several limiting roads....all mined and ambushed on.

Giving GAZA back was a smart move. It said that Isreal could and would give land back. Even to enemies.

Some recent online news......as to why this thread has been posted....might be in order.

Netanhyu just said he would sit down to "continuous talks" with Abbas/Palestines to make peace. So Israel played a trump card on the stalled peace talks.

If Netanyhu get his way.....Iran, Hezbolloh, Hamas......will not have any time to muster a counter offensive to deter the talks to peace agreement.

Netanyhu is a much younger man than Abbas.....so he can stand the 72+ hour straight negotiation. Meaning to get out the room for a nap, Abbas might be willing to make concessions that normally he would not. Also not in the interest of Hamas, Hezbolloh or Iran....all who want the Palestine issue to be theirs.

The interestnig thing.....in checking times on this....Netanyhu negotiation challenge was made at 11 ET......SB posted the thread at around 1:30 ET.....biting your nails, SB? Pretty fast on the response.....

SB.....just remember who told you a Middle East peace agreement was coming..... ..if I remember right....I said something to the effect of early next year....spring time at the latest.....

You are giving things Isreal already gotten the past. Egypt and Jordan both made peace with Irsreal and recognized Isreal's right to exists.

French President Sarkosy is supporting the EURO. Basically he says...that if the EURO falls so does Europe. That though his country is facing mass EURO debts......the French will meet their obligations to EU bonds holders.

Wish the French well here in their fight to save the Euro.

Do I think that they can? Am not as pessimestic as the English that give it a 1 in 5 chance to survive. Am saying it is 50/50.

It cannot be single country efforts to save the EURO but all of the agreeing European countries need to. Greek and Ireland austerity did little to the main problems here.

Last May in the Ukriane they placed a Stalin statute up. The new Ukriane gov't is pro Russian.....so thought this would be a good way to get close to the present Russian gov't.

Yes, I know the investigation is ongoing in Egypt. But we know
the Baghdad Church attack was alQeada. We have seen some of the effects. The Church leaders there....are saying that the Christmas attendance was down by 80%.

Which is a small victory to alQeada. If they can close Christian churchs in Muslim countries....
