RE: Tonight I am an Arab.

Interesting Paldi5 that your post are about Isreal nuclear abilities and GWB's word than they are about the estimated 52,000 Americans that are in Egypt at present.

Obviously you have written our fellow Americans off to what ever fate the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas might have for them.

I just just find it of such great interest that you and SB stir the pot.....when so many American lives are on the line.

RE: egypt

Please send us a copy of the rule book. With revised and updated rules.

When Daniel Pearls get kidnapped and beheaded....when countries allow terrorist group to function in them.....when religious sect fund the terrorist with their charitable donation.....we don't see many rules here.

But if you have a copy of this rule book, please do send it.

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

If you have not notice playing ideology is not of interest right now to us. We have 40,000 to 50,000 American in harms way.
Sorry if I don't respond to the tripe.

RE: egypt

That is why I think that they are coming in from outside Albert.
I think that Mubarak people had them pretty well under control.
But now the street protesters are being directed to go after the jails and prisons to break them out.

So one is directing them to the security centers. Most street protests are random things....but these have targets.

RE: egypt

Then the Isreal would know what is going on in Egypt, yes?
Isreal has already gotten its people out of Egypt......that says allot yes?

Want to try that "don't mix Christian and Jew against Muslim" again, SB?

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

Did I say invasion? Now let us not get this confused with the
British and French take over of the Suez Canal.

Dude do you want President Obama to invade Egypt? I did hear that they had some major oil strikes....it would not be because of Oil that you are talking invasion would it? One would not use a revolution to invade a country, would they?

I am talking about using American military to evacuate threatened American civilians inside a detoriating country situation.... to keep them safe from your Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood friends.

If the President doesnot do that. And just leaves them at the mercy of Hamas and MB....kind of makes him lax in his....sworn duty. Specially at this key time in Isreali and PLO talks.
Almost like he made them hostages on purpose. Kind of making him a major hero of Muslims around the world.

Hmmmmmmm..............

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

I can see the Isreali Arab in a street protest in Isreal. But Jewish? In street protest of the gov't of Isreal? The simple or the long answer do you want?

The short is NO. The long is....The Jewish people know that the only thing standing between them and millions of Muslim that want to drive them into the MED....is the Isreal gov't and military. They are not going to street protest.

But you are not answering my question. Why did Obama evacuate the American ExPat and Tourist from Egypt? Because I know.

One last little thing. It is great watching history being made.
It is really bad when history breaks you up into little pieces.

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

Like I say your disconnect from the reality here is astounding.
What does the different continent have to do with either a religious movement or a political movement?

So what if Iran is in Asia and Egypt is in Africa...(better watch the spelling...yours will get you into some trouble in South Africa). It is the frigin ideological and political movement that matter here.

If there is not a real threat in Egypt to Americans from a boogeyman....why is President Obama evacuating them? It is not some made up story what can happen to American caught in Islamic street political movement. Because we are about to see the US Iran Embassy take over on a massive scale here. It was only 52 then....now it is potentially 40,000.

You think that President Obama has a snow ball chance in a 300 degree oven of winning a second term....with even 1000 American as guest of the Muslim Brotherhood? Or even 1 American as a detained guest of Hamas?

You better take a look at how Carter lost to Reagon.

RE: egypt

Ablert....my surprise here is the strength that the MB has in Egypt. They were banned since the Sadat murder. But now are strong enough to lead the street protest?

Mubarak's secret police could infltrate those groups...and surely did....with the number of prisoners that they have taken.
But out of the wood work you have MB all over the place?

Want a bet....that you have foreign protesters....coming in
from outside the country....as MB agents. Just like Iraq, were foreign fighter came in from out of country.....

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

Why don't we talk about the liberal and anarchist movement of Europe and its association with Islamic radical movements at this time.

I mean Ayman Nour....was a "liberal" organizer in Egypt and Mubarak imprisoned him. Till Nov of 2009. Now we learn the Ayman Nour was injured by a rock thrown in a street protest. in Egypt.

Meaning either ....he did not duck. Or he was charging in the lead of a group of protesters....and someone threw short.

Now my bet is...if someone checks his LUTZ lists of phone calls and his computer emails....they will finds a long list of calls and emails with certain European persons of the far left. Myabe even the USA. That is just a guess....but a educated one.

Just why would a liberal leader in Egypt...be calling lefters in Europe? Not to coordinate the coming violence in Egypt with coming violence in Europe? That would never happen. Till you think about about.....London and the anarchist riots there.
Then think about the stone quiet Jarel Loughlen attack on Gabby Gifford in AZ. Then you have teh surpising resurgence of the Muslim Brotherhood in these street protest.

They were not in Tunasia. But suddenly in Egypt were they are banned....they emerge to be one of the leading groups. Again not connections between MB...the London Anarchist....Jarel Loughens...nah, not in a million years....but that they all act in a 4 week period of time?

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

I hate to tell you this, Dude.

But you are so out of touch with what is going on in Egypt.

To you this is Tunasia all over again. A dictator over thrown.
It happens and life goes on. Go mug the next REPUB head.

No.

Egypt is a country of 80m, strategically placed on the Suez canal and in relationship to Israel. It ahs 40K American in it.

President Obama never ask the American tourist in Tunasia to evacuate. He just did for Egypt. I wonder what just changed his mind?

I think I know......LOL.........amazing what you pick up in satellite imagery some times....grin

By the way....he is doing the right thing on evacuation. I began working a military evac earlier today. In case the commercial one breaks down.

But you are so out of touch.....

RE: egypt

The US gov't just asked Ex Pat and Tourist in Egypt to leave.

Beginning tomorrow US Embassy coordinated evacuation flights will take US citizen to safe area in Europe. I estimate that there are 40,000+ US Ex Pat and tourist in Egypt.

The US is not alone in this. Many other countries are doing the same.

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

The US Gov't and a number of other gov't have asked tourists and Ex Pat in Egypt to leave. For the US citizens in the Egypt, the US Embassy in Cairo is coordinating evacuation flights beginning tomorrow. Unfortunately many airlines are no longer flying to the country.

I estimate that there are 40,000+ US Ex Pat and Tourists in the country presently. Clearly they are in harms way.

The evacuation flights will take US citizens to safe areas in Europe.

I think our government is seeing a different tone to the street protest and is attempting to protect Americans from a growing violence in the country.

RE: The War on Drugs - How to Win it

You are giving us a cop out, Obbie. Asking us to decriminalize drugs but not addressing the murder and chaos they bring.

It is monster....it was a monster in 17th-18th century China....when a big percentage of the population was addicted
to opium. They did not even have AK-47s then. But the death was sure there from the addictions.

Call it what you want....the North American Drug Conflict or
Border Drug Trafficker's Paradise or Safe Drug Distribution for
Addicts....but the murder and chaos will come with it.

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

What good leadership in Egypt?

On one side...you have Mubarak and his group of wealthy and powerful that fraudently steal elections.

In the middle you have most Egyptian people just trying to survive this mess.

On the far side you have Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, that will kill for power and office.

You are a political dreamer Dude.....and not a realist.

RE: The War on Drugs - How to Win it

Both are missing the point. Why do the gangs have such numbers in the US or Mexico? Why do they arm to the teeth? Why the violence if drugs are a victimless crime?

The high number are because they need to recruit new members for new territory control. That is because with more territory more sales. It is a business. More gang member more market share.

And if a gang comes into your territory or you need to acquire more territory...you need the weapons to defend your operation/territory or add to it.

Now will decriminalizing of drugs....change of that basic equation to gang/cartel drug operations? Because if it does not....then decriminalization is not going to change a thing....but indeed will only make it worse....since the gangs will have the services of the 1000s that are in jail and prison now.

RE: The War on Drugs - How to Win it

Sorry Obbie I was off on the number of Hispanic gang members in the country.

According to wiki....it is 376,000

How many are connected the drug cartels? The MS Gang (also known as the MS-13, Mara and Mara Salvatrucha)....has a estimated 70,000 members in the US.

The MS gang originated in Central America....so we can assume it is very connected to the Drug Cartels. Also when the Minutemen went to the border to interdict illegal and drugs....
the MS threatened their members.

Pretty obvious they operate as a proxie for the cartels.

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

We have been waiting for the dust bins of history to open and take him in....guess this was his year for the broom.

But....just curious.

President Obama has played a role here, yes?

He asked for cell phone and the networking site to be reopened.
And got that. He let leak in Wahsington lose that the US aid to
Egypt was on the line, if Mubarak did not work thru a reform
and transtition. Asked for both side to show restraint.

So he jumped in with all the force he could without a military intervention.

But when Iran was going thru the very same thing....street protest to their flawed election. He did not ask for either. Not that the US gives Iran aid. But Iran shut down the social networking site and close newspapers.

Just seems like he might of had a chance to get the broom out here as well.....

RE: The War on Drugs - How to Win it

My three questions to Obbie is...

since we are no longer thing of this as war on drug....

what do we with the estimated 78,000 Hispanic Cartel members in the US that are armed (often with automatic weapons and with more fire power than local police) and are in gangs?

and

what do countries like Mexico and Columbia do with their heavily armed drug cartels?

Obbie calling something other than a war....when just south of the border in Mexico 32,000 have died in the last 5 years and 1000s in the US.....seems....inaccurate. Not only that though the drugs are decriminalized....why would drug gangs that are fighting over turf....be any less ruthless?

RE: Criminalise Chocolate?

thumbs up The ways to induce Chocolate addiction have to be considered considered in answering the question.

Several by experts (mostly women) identified are the following. The five top five addicting chocolates are:

1) Chocolate covered Strawberries

2) Hot Chocolate on a cold winter day

3) Valentine Heart Shaped gift boxes of Chocolates

4) Chocolate Cake

5) Smores

Each of these presents a serious potential addiction hazard. But this is not to say that the addiction risk of general chocolate consumption is not serious.

The government is considering making chocolate free zones at all public places including restraunts, college dorms, and work places. Here no chocolate substance would be allowed to enter.

Increasing on the South West border of the United States, the chocolate cartels are becoming more aggressive and threatening.
Victims of Chocolate cartel violence have found floating in vats of Chocolate. Many ingenious methods to illegal Chocolate Cartel border crossing have been attempted. these include the following:

1) The Chocolate Submarine. Yes, a working 50 foot sub made from chocolate was confiscated by the USCG as it attempted to enter San Francisco harbor. There it was to meet with the buyers from the various Gourmet Chocolate makers of the city

2) The Chocolate 40 Foot Reefer Truck. A complete 40 foot reefer truck made again entirely of Chocolate attempted to entire the US at a South West border crossing. The truck was detected by a chocolate snipping canine. His reward for public service....was a life time supply of chocolate doggie milk bone.

3) The Chocolate Throwing Catapult. Recently discovered on the South side of the border was a Chocolate throwing catapult. It hurled bundles of snikers, milkyways, and hersey kisses 100s of yards into the US. Were the the Chocolate Cartel conspirators tok them to American cities for selling to the deamnding US chocolate consumer market.

Be on the watch for illegal Chocolate trafficking......

RE: Tonight I am an Arab.

I checked prior to getting into this shin kicking contest Chris.
Greece tourism in 2005 prior to your 'troubles' was growing streadily....at about 8% per year and the projection for more.

Then the last two years....Greek Tourism has decreased by 10% each year. 20% in two years. That is lot of empty hotel rooms.
Empty tables at restraunts. Buses that are parked. And coinage that the Greeks will not see....

RE: Tonight I am an Arab.

We know were place like Greece are....we just don't like to visit them as much since they have all these "troubles".grin

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

I did a little digging into how the GWB administration handled the 2005 Egyptian Election.

First off the Moubarak won with 88.6% of the vote. I am coughing too. That is not 88.6% friendly voter faces down in
the streets of Cairo right now. So obviously some very big
election fraud went on here.

After the election....Moubarak imprison one of the leading opponents. Ayman Nour. A liberal and party organizer of the
El Ghad party.

This was the first contested election since Moubarak came to office in 30 years. That ought to say something as well.

Soon after Nour arrest....Condi Rice was to have a meeting with
Moubarak. She cancelled.

Then later Nour was given a 5 year prison sentence.

The White House statement was this;

"The US is deeply troubled by the conviction today of Egyptian politician Ayman Nour by a Egyptian court. The conviction of Mr.
Nour, the runner up in the 2005 Presidential election calls into question Egypt's commitment to Democracy, Freedom, and Rule of law......The United States calls on Egypt to act under the laws of Egypt, to act in it professed desire for increased political openness and dialogue with the Egyptian society with a humantiarian concern to release Mr. Nour."

IN 2007, GWB spoke at a dissenter conference....in Prague....
yes GBW spoke at this.

"There are many dissidents that could not join us here today because they are being unjustly imprisoned or held under house arrest. I look forward to a day when a conference like this
one includes Alexander Kozulin of Bellarussia, Aung San Suu Kyi
of Burma, Oscar Elias Biscet of Cuba, Father Nguyen Van Ly of Veit Nam and Ayman Nour of Egypt. The daughter of one of these dissenters is in the room, I would like to see her and the families of all the others. I thank you for your courage. I pray for their comfort and strength. And I call for the immediate and unconditional release of all your loved ones...I have asked Sect Rice to send out a message to all US Ambassador of the un-free nations. Seek out and meet with activist for democracy. Seek out those who demand human rights."

In Feb of 2009, Mr. Nour was released. Today he is in a Egyptian hospital from a stone thrown in the protest that struck him in the head.

GBW mistake here...and I think that it was one. Was not in denouncing the 2005 election as being fruadlent. But unless he has proof that is a hard claim to make. Like the recent Iranian election, were Pres. A got 75% of the vote. The US cannot claim a fruadlent election occurred unless there is proof to such.

But to their credit, GWB's Administration did much, at the time for the parties like Mr. Nour that were being imprisoned in Moubarak's Egypt for release.

We can talk about the 1.5b that the US gov't gives to the Egyptian in aid. Much of that is aid to the civilians of the country and to their institutions. But also those are American made tanks rolling thru the streets of Cairo at the order of
President Moubarak.
