I think that it is a two sided street here. The immigrating group has to want to assimilate into the society they move to. If not....then what you have is a society within a society.
Isolated and defensive.
When the Irish came to the US...the Italians....the other culture here....they wanted to make the intregration. Kids were forced to learn English. They changed names. They wanted to move from the inner city to burgs.
Sorry Garden....it just happens in life like that. Think about Mubarak going home and telling his wife he had a really bad day....after his resignation before millions around the world. She might say to him....Hon that is OK....we all have had raally bad days like that.
First Germany and now France. But I think both Sharkosy and Merkle....though expressing the failure of multiculturalism...also failed to give solid direction of how to have a "Islam within France" or a "Islam within Germany".
It is easy to say that Muslims will be treated the same as Jews and Christians. A position of fairness and equality. But that was part of multiculturalism as well. Rather Sharkozy and Merkle both need to identify what of Islam is not needed within their societies.
That part of his Iraqi Freedom address did not say one thing about Iraqi WMDs. In fact Emmeline, if you did read the address....you will see there was only one mention of 'mass murder' in it. Not WMDs. There many waysfor Sadam to support mass murder....that do not include WMDs. 911 is a example of one.
His basis for making the decision to invade Iraq had little to do with WMDs, or oil, or a American presence in the ME.
I am so very glad to read that the EU is going to pick up the tab here. Call my REP and tell him not vote any US funds for helping Egypt.....till we see if Egypt is Muslim Brotherhood free.....and Islamic Terrorist free.
Till then we should not contribute a dime or...to give official US recognition of the new Egyptian gov't.
I was very concern were our money was going to go in this. One big thanks to the Lady Ashton for explaining it to us.
"him and his regime"........his sons, his family, the bathe party, his military, the Sunni,.....all were going to going to strive for power in post Sadam Iraq.
Ever wonder why his two sons.....broke away from him after the US occupation? They had their own group of supporters and fighters....they could and did operate independently of Sadam.
You might sweep some of it into the dustbin.....but not all till you got rid of the bathe party. Even then that caused a major upheaval in the country.
Military to begin with...then to Military Dictatorship here.
The Constitution and Democratic principles are not strong enough in the country, to keep a military strong man from taking power. The Muslim Brotherhood is not large enough and does not have a "Khomenie like leader" to bring about a Iran like Islamic government.
I think that they need to ask the French to repair the Sphinx...if we get a bill for the repair job here in the US after Napelon blasted off his nose.....this is going to be one angry tax payer.
I guess you missed GWB Iraqi Freedom address prior to the invasion....I quote
"I want Americans and all the world to know that the coalition forces will make every attempt to spare innocent civilians from harm. A campaign on the harsh terrian of a nation that size of California could be longer and more difficult than some predict. And helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable, and FREE country will require our sustained commitment."
I will give comment to this inaccurate post. The police station and prisons were assaulted by protester, gangs and family members who set the prisoner free.
RE: iran
Iran just denied a reform group application for street demonstration that would support the Egyptian streetprotesters and thier falling of Mubarak.
This while the Iranian Gov't pulbically has supported the
Egyptian street protests.
Ain't geo-political events interesting?
