Nope. It was my opinion. But it is part of the possible punishment he could receive. Espionage is punishable by death.
906. ART. 106. SPIES Any person who in time of war is found lurking as a spy or acting as a spy in or about any place, vessel, or aircraft, within the control or jurisdiction of any of the armed forces, or in or about any shipyard, any manufacturing or industrial plant, or any other place or institution engaged in work in aid of the prosecution of the war by the Unites States, or elsewhere, shall be tried by a general court-martial or by a military commission and on conviction shall be punished by death. 906a. ART. 106a. ESPIONAGE (A) (1) Any person subject to this chapter who, with intent or reason to believe that it is to be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of a foreign nation, communicates, delivers, or transmits, or attempts to communicate, deliver, or transmit, to any entity described in paragraph (2), either directly or indirectly, any thing described in paragraph (3) shall be punished as a court-martial may direct, except that if the accused is found guilty of an offense that directly concerns (A) nuclear weaponry, military spacecraft or satellites, early warning systems, or other means of defense or retaliation against large scale attack, (B) war plans, (C) communications intelligence or cryptographic information, or (D) any other major weapons system or major element of defense strategy, the accused shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court- martial may direct.
Again show with specificity* where the Commander of the brig has been tried and punished for torturing Manning. And that goes for all of the guards as well.
*Meaning the actual court papers attesting to the trial and the verdict.
Your right but again he did confess publicly that he stole confidential documents and freely distributed them to a 3rd party. What more proof do you need. It's just a mater of going in front of the Military Tribunal which is only going to be a formality.
His goose is cooked and nothing you nor I can do about it. Let him suffer his fate and move on to something more productive.
Ok there mister know it all. The president has no power he is a figure head only. Congress holds the purse strings and the dem's sure new how to spend the $$$$$$$.
A repeat here since you feel you need to try this Military matter in the court of public opinion.
Ok you win throw him to the wolves by all means. But don't be whining if and or when he get's killed by some other inmate. God forbid he is held there for his own protection from others.
Rephrase here if people who commit crimes would be free to commit more crimes if left out in the wild. Incarceration prior to trial is for the safety of the accused and that of society in general.
Waiting until the guilt or innocence is proven to incarcerate would get more killed that helped.
That''s because the wheels of justice grind slowly. It takes time for these things. Patience is a virtue and your not showing any. Let the people do their job. Then complain if they are found to be in the wrong.
I''m not telling people what to post. If people had their way no one would be held accountable for the crimes they commit. That's all I see coming from this thread in certain view point's.
I will reiterate again.
Putting manning in solitary for his own protection is not torture.
Making sure he is alive and well is their top priority. If it means solitary then so be it.
A letter is not fact it is still opinion. When the Guards have been tried in a military court for torture and proven guilty then and only then can it be fact.
