RE: torture?

When one is safer than the rest it cannot be considered torture. Otherwise we are being tortured every day of our lives.
He is not being torture in accordance with the below definition.
They are not trying to coerce him into admitting anything.

HE IS NOT BEING TORTURED.

Torture, according to the United Nations Convention Against Torture (an advisory measure of the UN General Assembly) is:

...any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him, or a third person, information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity.
It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in, or incidental to, lawful sanctions. --UN Convention Against Torture

RE: torture?

Do you take the word of every person that knows someone that is complaining. I sure don't. Again He is where he is and I'll lay a $100 down he's safer where he is instead of in general population.

No manner of complaining is gonna get him out of there.

Anything home grown is better than store bought. Taste alone is a million times better.

Lawful sanction.

810. ART. 10. RESTRAINT OF PERSONS CHARGED WITH OFFENSES
Any person subject to this chapter charged with an offense under this chapter shall be ordered into arrest or confinement, as circumstances may require; but when charged only with an offense normally tried by a summary court-martial, he shall not ordinarily be placed in confinement. When any person subject to this chapter is placed in arrest or confinement prior to trial, immediate steps shall be taken to inform him of the specific wrong of which he is accused and to try him or to dismiss the charges and release him.

He knows very well why he is there. He has been informed of the pending charges and is being held due to possible flight risk and from potentially being harmed by placing him in the general population. That is not torture.

RE: There are some who are not worth loving.

Never give up!

There is someone out there who might be willing to put up with you as long as your criminal background is semi clean. professor grin

RE: torture?

Letters and commentary from someone not there to see is not proof of torture. Just because someone thinks it is does not make it so.

Again Answer this and then we will go from there.

Ok I call it torture for families of victims of criminals to have to endure paying for the criminal to stay alive in a prison while the victim did not have the chance that the criminal does. MENTAL TORTURE would you agree?

RE: torture?

No I'm not at all under that impression.

RE: torture?

Yeah makes one wonder how man survived the hundred's of thousand's of years before now. roll eyes

RE: torture?

And I quoted you post as this

"On Wednesday, the Marines replaced Averhart as Quantico's commander with Chief Warrant Officer Denise Barnes, CNN reports."

That to me is saying the base commander was replaced in which I pointed you to the Base Commanders site. Then I found the other and corrected the CNN miss quote.

RE: torture?

Yeah it was funny.

RE: torture?

Maybe too much coffee and beatin my head against the wall. grin frustrated

RE: torture?

Yes and again he is not being tortured. But petition Congress to make sure that all prisoners go directly to general population that should fix the problem. roll eyes

RE: torture?

The US military is controlled by the Civilian Government.

There is a reason why the President also holds the title of Commander and Chief.

RE: torture?

Now I did find this but it's just a normal change of command nothing to do with manning or torture.

Brig welcomes new commanding officer

MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. (Jan. 26) - Marine Corps Base Quantico’s Pre-Trial Confinement Facility welcomed their new commanding officer Monday.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Denise Barnes assumed command of the brig as former Officer in Charge CWO4 James Averhart prepared to execute his orders to the Regional Joint Confinement Facility in Chesapeake.

The Regional Joint Confinement Facility is a level two, medium security brig with a 400 person capacity. Averhart, who received orders in June 2010, will assume responsibility as commander of the Marine Detachment and security department head of the brig.

At Quantico, Averhart oversaw the transition of the brig when it was re-designated from a level one facility to a pre-trial confinement facility, per the reference Marine Administration 498/10.

“That was a major transition,” said Averhart, a Mobile, Ala. native. “But now all CWO 4’s are moving from pre-trial confinement facilities to work at naval facilities with pre- and post-trial confinement.”

The motivation for the reassignment of all CWO 4’s is due to the Base Realignment and Closure Act 2005. The downsizing of the brig called for some staff reassigning, but Barnes will continue the mission.

RE: torture?

Straight to the source. Better find good info and not rely on letters and opinions.

RE: torture?

Show ME physical proof he is being tortured.

Till then it's a he said she said deal. I know how the military works spen't 10+ years in there. I don't think you have ever served so you would not understand how it works.

RE: torture?

First of all No Warrant officer will ever be handed Command of a military installation period. Second of all it would have hit Military.com minutes after and that story is not there. They usually get it before the gp does.

RE: WHAT IS YOUR AGE PREFRENCE FOR RELATIONSHIPS (REASONS PLEASE)

Had to pick the around the same but 5-10 either way if it works out. Never know until you give it a try.

RE: torture?

I honestly hope he gets the noose but we all know that won't happen.

AGAIN HE IS NOT BEING TORTURED. He is being held within the law he is subjected to and nothing else.

RE: torture?

He is not being tortured.

My point is you go to jail until you either make bail or are denied due to risk of flight or harm to yourself or others. Manning is still in the Military as an active duty person. He still draws his pay and is afforded health care food water bed and all other amenities. Until he is discharged he is to suffer military justice just like a civilian murder suspect would suffer civilian justice. Once the court has found him guilty he will be sentenced to a specified time of punishment. At the end of his time served he will be dishonorably discharged and loose all right's to the benefits. He will also be denied his right to the 2nd amendment, his right to vote and other rights just like every other criminal.

RE: torture?

Like I said the only thing that matter is the UCMJ in this instance or any instance for active and retired Military members. Army values are great but rubber to road the UCMJ will win every time.

RE: torture?

Bingo. Want a trip to GITMO keep at it. laugh

RE: torture?

Not much if any really; but he did supposedly breach the laws about espionage and passing state secrets so does not matter really.

RE: torture?

Not in the military. Please read the UCMJ UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE

He brought this upon himself by freely giving up certain right's and that is no one's fault but his own.

RE: IF A GUY SPLITS THE BILL ONN THE FIRST DATE, IS HE-DATEABLE????

Agree to a point but also disagree to a point.

Not all guy's feel that if they pay you are indebted to them; some are still a bit old fashioned and would just love to have a good time at their expense and think nothing of it.

RE: How far would you go to meet someone?

Yep never ever meet someone in a dark alley at midnight. professor
