Most Aus. community volunteer radio stations like the one I volunteer DJ for stream over the net so it's easy to listen to radio stations from anywhere in the world these days. I find Perth radio to be the most red neck with their views so Pauline Hanson sided and Queensland radio is also half red neck however they have become a lot more grounded as southerners migrate there. Your point I feel is that geography causes little enclaves of views that are dissimilar to the majority and can seem quite extremist.
