Women's Six Nations: Ireland hammer Scotland to clinch title

Scotland (3) 3

Pen: Deans

Ireland (37) 73

Tries: Briggs, Molloy, O'Brien, Burke, Miller 3, Fitzpatrick Spence, Rosser, Murphy Cons: Briggs 6 Pens: Briggs 2

Ireland crushed Scotland by 70 points to emulate the men's team and secure the Women's Six Nations title on points difference from France.

Needing to win by at least 27 points, the Irish were 34 up by half-time.
They exploited their dominant pack to secure the victory, which delivered the Triple crown as well as the title.

Ireland, World Cup semi-finalists last year, scored 11 tries at Broadwood Stadium, with winger Alison Miller notching a hat-trick of touchdowns.
It is a second Six Nations success in three seasons for Ireland, who landed the Grand Slam when they first won the title in 2013.

Ireland finished with a points difference of 113 with France on 69, each side having won four of their five fixtures.

Any nerves Tom Tiernan's team may have had were quickly eased as Niamh Briggs, skipper on the occasion of her 50th cap, scored the opening try in the fourth minute after an exchange of passes with winger Hannah Tyrrell.
Scotland winger Nuala Deans and full-back Briggs traded penalties before the Irish forwards really took charge of proceedings.

In the 17th minute the visitors claimed line-out ball and mauled over for Claire Molloy to score.

Ireland's well controlled scrum told again as number eight Heather O'Brien got a touchdown at the rear.

When the Irish were then given a kickable penalty, they understandably opted to put it in the corner instead and Gillian Bourke finished off another solid line-out and maul sequence.

Winger Miller then broke through for a fine individual score to give Ireland a 37-3 interval advantage.

Miller pounced again early in the second half and the strong pack delivered the seventh try through Paula Fitzpatrick.

Second row Sophie Spence stretched the lead and Scotland must have been simply wishing the agony to end as replacement scrum-half Tania Rosser got the ninth try and Miller completed her hat-trick before centre Jenny Murphy rounded things off with the final try.

Smoking Marijuana Does Not Improve Creative Thinking, Only The Illusion Of Creativity

Colzato and her colleague, Dr. Mikael Kowal, recruited 54 marijuana smoking participants and divided them into three groups of 18. Researchers provided the first group marijuana with 22 mg of THC (equivalent to “three joints”), the second group marijuana with 5.5 mg of THC (equivalent to a “single joint), and the third group a placebo. Marijuana was inhaled via a vaporizer, and participants were not told what dose they were receiving or if it was a placebo.
Receiving the highest dose of THC had a negative effect on the participant’s ability to come up with solutions for the tasks they were asked to perform. Although participants in the low dose or placebo groups displayed better creative thinking skills compared to participants in the high dose group, there were no signs of increased creativity in their actual performance

In a nutshell... There is no over all difference in the whole 'thinking' process between a toker and someone who hasn't toked...

RE: Vote to legalise Cannabis ?

Witty, this is from the first paragraph..

"A new study from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration finds that drivers who use marijuana are at a significantly lower risk for a crash than drivers who use alcohol. And after adjusting for age, gender, race and alcohol use, drivers who tested positive for marijuana were no more likely to crash than who had not used any drugs or alcohol prior to driving."

Paraphrased and in context it reads..'A new study from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration finds that drivers who use marijuana were no more likely to crash than who had not used any drugs'

What? You said smoking weed makes people poor drivers. The latest report by the NHTSA say otherwise.

RE: Vote to legalise Cannabis ?

I'll answer your last point first witty.. and the rest later.

Stoned drivers are a lot safer than drunk ones, new federal data show
By Christopher Ingraham February 9 2015 Washington Post

"A new study from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration finds that drivers who use marijuana are at a significantly lower risk for a crash than drivers who use alcohol. And after adjusting for age, gender, race and alcohol use, drivers who tested positive for marijuana were no more likely to crash than who had not used any drugs or alcohol prior to driving."

The study's findings underscore an important point: that the measurable presence of THC (marijuana's primary active ingredient) in a person's system doesn't correlate with impairment in the same way that blood alcohol concentration does. The NHTSA doesn't mince words: "At the current time, specific drug concentration levels cannot be reliably equated with a specific degree of driver impairment."

Several states have passed laws attempting to define "marijuana-impaired driving" similarly to drunk driving. Colorado, for instance, sets a blood THC threshold of 5 nanograms per milliliter. But that number tells us next to nothing about whether a person is impaired or fit to drive. The implication is that these states are locking up people who are perfectly sober.

A companion study released by the NHTSA identified a sharp jump in the number of weekend night-time drivers testing positive for THC between 2007 and 2013/2014, from 8.6 percent to 12.6 percent. Numbers like these are alarming at first glance. They generate plenty of thoughtless media coverage. They're used by marijuana legalization opponents to conjure up the bogeyman of legions of stoned drivers menacing the nation's roads. In heavy marijuana users, measurable amounts of THC can be detectable in the body days or even weeks after the last use, and long after any psychoactive effects remain."

Copy/paste the link and read the rest.... The report, while telling me nothing new should dispel a lot of myths.

'an agreement being reached on the handing over of certain information relating to the 1976 IRA Kingsmill massacre.'

Is the reason being given for the cancellation of the parade. But I don't see files about the Glenanne gang going across or files about the Dub/Mon. 1974 bombings being handed over either.

RE: Love Ulster 2.

IT’S OFF: ‘Love Ulster’ parade is no longer going ahead

THE ‘LOVE ULSTER’ parade that had been planned for later this month is no longer set to go ahead.

This comes after a meeting between organiser and leader of group Families Acting for Innocent Victims (FAIR), Willie Frazer, and representatives from the Department of Justice.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie, Frazer said that the meeting, which took place earlier today, lasted around two hours and resulted in an agreement being reached on the handing over of certain information relating to the 1976 IRA Kingsmill massacre.

Parade
Speaking late last month, Frazer had said that the parade was set to go ahead and would see a couple of hundred people marching through the centre of Dublin.

There were fears that the violence that happened when the parade took place in 2006 – when 14 people were injured and €50,000 worth of damaged cause – would be repeated.

Discussions
The Department of Justice said that the discussions had been focused on the victims and that they were productive.
Frazer stated that he was happy with the outcome of the discussions but that if the Irish government reneged on their agreement, “there would be no more talks”.

“For a change it seems to be a sensible outcome, usually in these cases people stick to their guns – but they are prepared to fulfil their commitment,” he said.

"He said it was liquid faecal excrement. Those are the words he used."

A British Airways flight was forced to turn around because of a "smelly poo".

The plane was heading from Heathrow to Dubai on Thursday - a seven-hour flight.

Abhishek Sachdev, who was on board tweeted: "Insane. Our BA flight to Dubai returned back to Heathrow because of a smelly poo in the toilet."
He told a newspaper: "The pilot made an announcement requesting senior cabin crew, and we knew something was a bit odd.

"About 10 minutes later he said 'You may have noticed there's a quite pungent smell coming from one of the toilets'.

"He said it was liquid faecal excrement. Those are the words he used."
The plane had been airborne for just 30 minutes when it turned round.
The next available flight was 15 hours later, so passengers had to be put up in a hotel overnight.

Speaking to Radio 1's Greg James, Sarah, who works for the airline said: "When you're up at that altitude the cabin has to be pressurised so the problem is that anything like that is actually a health and safety problem because only 50 percent of the air is being recycled and cleaned".
In a statement, BA says "A decision was taken to return for the safety and comfort of our customers on board.

"We're very sorry for the discomfort to our customers.

"We provided them with hotel accommodation and rescheduled the flight to depart the next day."
