That tradition is from a time when women were considered to be men's property..passed by her father to her husband and having to take his name as proof of his ownership of her.
We are beyond that now...or should be...
If a man is not secure enough in himself that he cannot be married to a woman who wants to keep her own name, then it is he has the problem.
You spend all your childhood and half your adult life with one name, and then you suddenly change it to another name, just because that happens to be the surname of the man you are married to?
Could you just imagine if you told adult men that their name was no longer good enough, and they had to take yours??
My first kiss was 'upstairs'at the local disco. If you went 'upstairs', you would have something to talk about at school Monday morning
But because it was a converted cinema, there was a big armrest between each seat, so it was not very comfortable, nor conducive to a good snogging-session!
Probably just as well, considering we were just young teenagers!
We speak Irish-English, which is closer to British English than American English. Although lots of kids now speak more American English due to tv/music.
RE: How do you imagine other CS posters voices sound?
So..you Imagine your own voice to be thunderingly deep and masculine??Why...is that the opposite to what it is really like??
