The only organized principle underlying paganism is animism, that every aspect(god/goddess) principle of reality has a discrete female/male dualistic soul/spirit. Other than that I would have to agree.
I would like to say to everyone on the forums that good happens. Everything that has ever happened in my life has led up to this happiness with Joli. I would not be this happy had I not been the people I have been before and learned the lessons I did about myself.
I did not like it when my father died, although it was a rite of passage into manhood I didn't expect. When you become the master rather than the scion, life becomes much more serious.
I did not like it when my engagement fell apart, although it was another rite of passage into learning that if I'm not happy, I can't make anyone else happy, either. Misery loves company, but happiness attracts company without effort, and love is equally effortless when you have the wings of an angel.
There is so much more, but you get what I'm saying. Love is. Life is. They both are, and will be again, for all of us. Best of life to all of you.
They always have a problem with Sharia Law, though, without mention of the days of the Inquisitions, or witch-burnings.
Religious states are anti-thetical to religious freedom. The only way to gaurantee freedom of religion is to gaurantee freedom from religion, because otherwise their in your face with their morality.
Christians wanted short-cuts to Jewish Law, which is inflexible. Paul wanted to break free of the ten commandments, and thus he invented a fable about a former teacher of his being the Kwisatz Haderach, or a bending of God's law. That is the extent of the New Testament.
There's no proof of Jesus's existence, let alone his divinity, except through testimony, which, even in this enlightened age, smacks of collusion. Take ten people witnessing the same thing, and you well get ten different versions of the truth, all with vastly different chronological order as well as different events altogether. The fact that the canonized testaments are so similiar would lead a law enforcement agent to believe its a cover story, an alibi, or something to that effect. The witnesses have been coached, and the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth will NEVER be known.
I just got done reading his son's renditions of 7 and 8. While not Frank, they got me to thinking about the characters and world again. I loved them just as much as the FH Books because the characters of Duncan Idaho and the Honored Matres were well done, and the plot was all Frank Herbert.
I've been here long enough to make enough friends, and to make an effort to include the new people in on the conversations I start because they are the ones thinking outside the box, and may actually have something to say thats not preaching to the choir.
It's amazing how self-satisfied cliques become after a certain amount of time existing. Like their opinions are the only ones that matter. In that I find something to be sad about, because even Ivy League schools recognize the fact they need new blood to enhance their growth, or they just stagnate. Opinions stagnate the same way stagnant water does. In the end, they all do, unless they undergo Hegel's thesis-antithesis-synthesis process.
Welcome all the new people. Don't ridicule them. You could be chasing away the real love of your life with your stagnant, bitter opinions...
She already knows most of the world leaders, and the Sec/state is in charge of cabinet level foreign diplomacy. She prolly has most of the most important leaders already on speed-dial...
