Spring Fever

Heya Chris.

Well, It's now Saturday, and guess what?

It's raining.

sigh

Fun while it lasted though.

RE: What's your favorite movie????

Michael Collins, Monty Python's Holy Grail, and Arsenic and Old Lace.

About that last. Anything with Cary Grant pretty much.

Spring Fever

Okay. Let's clarify this.

I'm not saying "I" have spring fever, but that I am observing behavior around me that is somewhat feverish.

Any comments?

Eternal Brook

I am wind, I am rain,
I am joy, I am pain.

These roots that cling to soil,
Hold me fast to mortal coil.
Yet more am I besides this brook,
Eternal part that I mistook.
Brother river, tell me more,
Of Father Ocean, Mother shore,
I've forgotten, in my bed,
All the things my parents said.

I am wind, I am rain,
I am joy, I am pain.

Water flowing, heart and soul,
Eternity has taken toll.
Deja vu, is this true,
The reason why the sky is blue?
I think science the new mythos,
Arrogant and bellicose.
Shouting white in a world of grey,
Where the gods come to play.

I am wind, I am rain,
I am joy, I am pain.

Looking out, the insides change,
Pixies the furniture rearrange,
And what was true the day before,
Now is fancy, that naught restore.
Gone, what was, forever and a day,
Alas, even memory, by the way.

RE: i wonder what it is

I think its an issue of comfort zones.

Unless you have $$$$, chances are you will never meet that (theoretical) hottie in Amsterdam. So she feels safe. She can converse with you without the thought of dealing with you IRL.
It's simple, harmless, and safe.

But that gal thats 12 miles away? You might make demands. Her profile might be full of S@#$. The thought of being exposed as the liar she really is. Too risky.

Just my opinion.

Peace.

RE: the Ideal Type

Everyone gets exactly what they deserve. You will find the ONE. When he deserves you.

Which is why I am sooo doomed to solitude. But I've gotten used to the idea. Mainly I'm just into friends now because, well, I've stopped believing in soulmates.

I can't deal with myself half the time. What sort of rationalization could I possibly use to convince someone else to deal with me?

Life: "you don't have to like it, you just have to do it."

RE: would you take the risk

I'm not above making a fool out of myself if it gets a smile from a pretty girl. Heck, if she laughs, my work here is done.

Unless she gives me a job offer.

Anyone need a court jester?

grin

TET

RE: the Ideal Type

hmm.

You can know a person for years IRL and still not really know them, so as far as online, well, its just that much more difficult.

I've run psychological tests to see if people will actually respond to an ad that is as you described.

Surprisingly, I've gotten quite a few responses to these.

Go figure. People are strange. dunno

Spring Fever

Well,

as we all know, the rain is off and on these days, the sun has decided to grace us with its presence occasionally.

Birds are singing, flowers are blooming.

Which leads me to a question.

Am I the only one feeling spring fever in the air?

RE: Are You Ready??????

"Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, "I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course."
-Kahlil Gibran, On Love.-The Prophet.

We live in a universe full of constant change. How in this tempest, can we hope to hold onto something that is so ephemeral?

By the realization that love is not something seperate from the tempest, but that love is the storm itself. We are leaves blown on the wind. The only thing that redeems us is the course we take.

Love is that road.

RE: Are You Ready??????

Every time I have ignored the little voice in my head in favor of the voice in my little head, I've regretted it.

Being "in love" is all well and good, like a glass of champagne, but eventually the glass is empty, and we either break it in the fireplace, or take it back to the bar for a refill.

Most people are too lazy to make the trip back to the bar. In other words, when it comes to love, its strictly self-service.

We are taught by corporate media that everything becomes obsolete, even relationships. We are taught to be constantly upgrading. We are taught, in essence, how to be unhappy.

When we are unhappy we consume. People, things, ideas. This makes money.

Here is my doing my bit to teach people how to be "happy".

The only thing that can fill the hole inside of you, is you.

RE: Broken Hearts

"Resentment is like taking poison and then waiting for the other person to die."

"The best revenge is a life well lived."

I could quote more aphorisms, but you get the idea. Nothing is more subtly flattering than the inability to get over someone. If this person is aware of it, its just a bit boost to their ego, regardless of what is said. If they're not aware, than it just becomes an impediment to your own growth.

I refuse to give anyone that sense of satisfaction. Even God. Yes, I've had my heart broken. No, I've not let it get to me. Why?

Because then, the other person has won.

RE: Anyone Else Pretty Much Agree With This Statement?

"Life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short"-Thomas Hobbes-Leviathan.

With this in mind, why would I waste time considering whether happiness is quantitative or qualitative to my appearance? I have big, jug ears and munchkins are taller than me. Women run scared, thinking I'm a grey alien that's come to take them for a little um..."probing". I just don't have time to care. If you can't accept me as I am, then you are irrelevant to my happiness.

Grab what you can while you can. Life is over before you know it. People that are ugly on the inside, regardless of how they look, will always try to include you in their misery.

To this I say, "These are not the droids you want!" and walk away.

RE: Tell me your fav. quote

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. -Douglas Adams
