RE: 'Spiritual but not religious'???

Someone who believes in a particular faith but does not practise it is usually described as a "non practising + name of religion" I think

RE: 'Spiritual but not religious'???

As I see it and very very simplified (from my very limited knowledge of all religions) and please don't all jump down my throat it's a very difficult thing to explain without generalising and I don't wish to hurt or upset anyone.

Spiritual: believe in some form of "Higher" Devine Source or Power. Be it God or just an energy. It stands for all that is good and that is love in its purest form. Spiritual people tend to have higher awareness of "energies" generally. They can sense and sometimes see and feel things that the "average" person cannot. One could never advocate any form of "aggressive" act in the name of spirituality. It would be contrary to everything that it stands for, the attainment of enlightenment and unconditional love.

Religious: believes in some form of (may be) "man made" religion like Protestanism - which was invented by Henry VIII so that he could divorce his wives without needing to be-head them (I guess it must have got boring after a while) not withstanding all those hours he must have spent kneeling down in confession at the local Catholic Church saying "Ave Marias" so that he could be forgiven for his sins hahahaha! Anyway he got bored with all that so he invented Protestanism.
As far as I have experienced Catholicism is also a man made religion, I feel used many times as a "crowd control" tool including many attrocities and devastation. Those are but 2 examples of "man made religions". They usually advocate that one should attend a place of worship and they are also usually very mandatory as to the form of worship. They also advocate that "God" (who is usually male) would turn his back on anyone who has commited a "sin".
This is a very generalised description as Buddhism for instance does not fall into that category :-)

FEAR

I would agree that in business circles exposing one's weaknesses would not serve anyone very well. But what about in non-business circles, everyday life, dating, friendship etc....?

FEAR

Masquerade is all very well KT but does that mean that people who only use "masquerades" are only likely to attract others who also "masquerade". Would this lead to rather odd matches of couples and or friends, where as the mask slowly slides off they come to the slow realisation they have befriended/got involved with someone they don't actually like? Is this maquerade of any constructive use to anyone?dunno confused

FEAR

thumbs up Thank you YamiYami for a very sensible and sensitive insight

Can't believe I missed this! Only just came accross it!

Ladies and Gentlemen You are all invited to the private view of my latest production "Love As You Feel" where apart from having your senses gently titillated, you will have ample opportunity to discretely assess all available "singles". The chance to woe them will come at the post production celebration which will take the form of a barn dance danceline Everyone is expected to let their down to the sounds of the accordeons, fiddles and shouts of Yeeeehaaa! party: Don't tell anyone, but it's a well know fact that, on many occasions, this litarery lady gained much of her insights and sometimes even inspirations, from the much respected, if at times eccentric, and certainely wisest lady in the village - namely The Great Smoky bowing

Alas the poor sherrif is drowning his sorrows at the local saloon, downing shots of tequilla drinking For this beloved has spurnned his advances preferring instead to live in blissfull harmony with the local candlemaker.

PS to Homer: Having make over in preparation for the big night! rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

FEAR

To what extend do we allow "fear of exposing our vulnerabilities" to dictate how we project ourselves... be it by using aggressive, brash, dis-courteous, language/attitude... confused
In other words are we "affraid" that our vulnerabilities - if laid bare - will be perceived by others as "weaknesses"? What "tactics" - voluntary or non-voluntary - do we use to hide them? dunno

RE: second hand

Yes I do sometimes out of choice not necessity. Also I like buying more expensive shoes and accessories to dress up whatever I have bought from charity shops or "garage sales"... I used to do it before it became "fashionable" here in the UK. And you know what? I have been asked more than once if I go over to Paris to do my clothes shopping. Hahahahaha! Basically it's not "what" you wear or how much it cost but "how" you wear it cheering cheering
