I used to work with a Brazilian who was here working with a Visa.
He was very nice and even invited me to dinner which he cooked for me. It was a South American dish and very very good. I truely valued his friendship and I do miss him. That was back in 1990.
Would love to come visit and perhaps I will one day, when I get my passport, which is being delayed.
How much do you owe to our Lord? Has he ever done anything for you? Has he forgiven your sins? Has he covered you with a robe of righteousness? Has he set your feet upon a rock? Has he established your goings? Has he prepared heaven for you? Has he prepared you for heaven? Has he written your name in his book of life? Has he given you countless blessings? Has he laid up for you a store of mercies, which eye has not seen nor ear heard? Then do something for Jesus worthy of his love. Do not give a mere wordy offering to a dying Redeemer. How will you feel when your Master comes, if you have to confess that you did nothing for him, but kept your love shut up, like a stagnant pool, neither flowing forth to his poor or to his work? Riddance to love such as that! What do men think of a love which never shows itself in action? Why, they say, “Open rebuke is better than secret love.” Who will accept a love so weak that it does not move you to a single deed of self-denial, of generosity, of heroism, or zeal? Think how he has loved you, and given himself for you! Do you know the power of that love? Then let it be like a rushing mighty wind to your soul to sweep out the clouds of your worldliness, and clear away the mists of sin. “For Christ’s sake” let this be the tongue of fire that will sit upon you: “for Christ’s sake” let this be the divine rapture, the heavenly intervention to take you high above the earth, the divine spirit that will make you bold as lions and swift as eagles in your Lord’s service. Love should give wings to the feet of service, and strength to the arms of labor. Fixed on God with a constancy that is not to be shaken, resolute to honor him with a determination that is not to be turned aside, and pressing on with a zeal never to be wearied, let us manifest the constraints of love to Jesus. May the divine love draw us heavenward towards itself.
Ship, this thread is really not a commenting thread. I do not expect responces to it. I bump it so they can see who their reps are. We only have 2 weeks before elections.
It's okay ship, we are all screwed and some of us know it, but many don't and sometimes I don't really care either. Sure, it is probably a hopeless cause, but it is still a cause. Cause I care!
Ship, I know that a bunch don't care about this, but since I have the information, I am accountable to distribute it. What they do with it is up to them. Their blood will not be on my hands, as they have been warned.
Actually, many more are doing the same as myself, so I do not stand alone in this.
It will be a mess next year in Washington. I do not believe any of us know at this time, nor can we imagine, just how much of a mess. But we must at least try. We should never just give up.
In my district, Tom Cole (R) voted for the bailout twice!
His seat is opposed by Blake Cummings (D) who is against the bailout, and for running government according to the Constitution. He is NOT a politician, but a working man and a neighbor to me.
I don't care for parties, but I will vote for him as I agree with his values and what he wants to do to make changes. I am going to see him speak on Friday night.
Everyone needs to research their state reps and vote against the ones who voted Yes to the bailout.
I posted another thread concerning this, listing all the states, their representatives and how they voted, so everyone can check.
Then search your states election 2008 to see who is running, google them and find out where they stand and oust the socialists!!!
We had our potluck Pastor appreciation dinner after church this morning and it was great! I also landed a job interview for tomarrow morning at a company less than a mile from my house. The owner was at our church for the first time, visiting. I spoke to him afterwards and found out that he is the man who just had this tremendous home built down the block, my closest neighbor! I asked if they were hiring at his business and he told me to go see his daughter in the morning to put in an application. I took it one step further and said I would like to work in Shipping or Receiving as I have 23 years in the Trucking Industry. He told me they had recently hired someone in shipping who moved to another position in the plant, so the slot is available. He immediately phoned the vice president of his company and the man wants to see me at 9:00 in the morning!!! I will be able to quit driving truck!!!! I am sooooo excited!!! I have heard from another man who works there, who came to church with the owner of the company, that I already have the job, but if anyone would like to lift me up in prayer, it's fine with me! Also, the insurance agent for my truck called and left a message. He is ready to settle with me on my truck!
Nooooooooooo SF, I have already explained my purpose for this post, wayyyyyy back in the pages. The end comment was added to see where everyone else would go with it, for my own amusement. Of course they took the bait and ran with it. Hugz debunked it with lots of info and I commended her for it. The thread is about McCain, not Obama, but look where it went!
The people here are a colorful piece of work in progress. I had an enjoyable evening sitting here watching the opinions and laughed till my stomach hurt.
It's fun to play once in awhile.
Remember, I am for neither candidate. You can find the details on my support somewhere around page 18, don't remember exactly where, but it was at 2:40am if that helps, cos I went to bed after posting it. Or maybe I posted it right before the last post, don't remember exactly.
Good to see you! I've got to get ready for church now. Have a blessed day!!! HL
Ship, I posted two articles I received in an email on a positive note.
You know I am a Libertarian!
There are plenty of Obama threads on here and plenty bashing McCain and Palin.
I wanted to post something positive. It was something I did not know about her or him and thought others may want to know also.
You should know me well enough by now to know that I post things for different reasons, not because I favor someone.
Ron Paul is my choice and always will be. Unfortunately, I can not vote for him in my state, Obama and McCain are the only choices, so I will leave that slot blank and vote for the other reps on the ticket for our state and local officials.
What do I do in these forums? I try to inform others and wake them up! I am envolved in local politics, working to change voting laws in our state so we will be able to vote for the candidate of our choice, not just the 2 party candidates which is the current law.
I encourage everyone to get envolved to do the same in their state.
It didn't pass last time around and it's too late for the current election, but at least we tried! We haven't given up and we will get it changed!!!
I posted a thread on that too! I am not voting for the President, but will vote against every one of my representatives in my district who voted for the bailout, including Tom Cole!!!
I thought you ment that we were responsible for the "bailout" and I know this is not true as I believe I read that 93% of the people said "NO" to the bailout and our reps voted for it anyway!
Some of us DO pay attention. I know that I have posted threads in the past, concerning many important facts from the CFR website, and no one bothered to read them, they were too busy playing games!! So, in that sence, yes, most of the sheeple are we!
RE: Introducing myself!
Hey, I try to give equal time to the Democrats too!I am Libertarian, neither the Republicans or the Democrats seem to share my views!!!
They can watch all they want... I'm NOT skeered!!!!!!
