I think, that once upon a time Johnson noticed that he's dandruffy looks appeal to a certain type of the English voters and therefore he's maintaining it.
I once saw a woman order a chocolate pizza. It was a pizza bottom with a lot of Nutella (or the like) smeared all over it, decorated with tonnes of sprinkles. You could get diabetes just by looking at it. Gross beyond believe. She ate it all.
You are welcome and I'm glad that you found it useful. The same Dr Lustig says a lot of what you said in your post in his another presentation from 2009 "Sugar: the bitter truth" and it also is worth every second. I checked and it turned out that our library has this book of his, but there's a queue, I put myself in line :)
But I don't agree that we are victims. Children, certainly, as they cannot chose and have to consume what their parents feed them. But the adults have choices. It's not that difficult to find information about what food is good for you and what's bad and why. Nowadays you can't put on a kettle without it telling you that you should eat more fibre and eliminate sugar. We cannot claim victimhood, only ignorance.
By the way, have you seen that somebody gave you a "thumb down"? Made my day :D
Well, no, my definition of restriction is exactly the same, as yours: you want something, but don't pursue it.
The difference, perhaps, in what I consider "wise". I'm totally at piece with sitting at my desk and working all day long, despite that the day is sunny and the wind is mild and I'd rather go paddling. (Oh, if only I could make a living by paddling )
I do like my job, it fits me well, but on a sunny day it isn't my first choice. Though a wise one.
Here is a presentation by Dr Lustig, that explains quite a lot about processed food and sugar. Don't let the length (1 h 20 min) scare you: it's worth every second of your time.
Non-greedy people have no power. They are not decision-makers. Very unfortunately for them and for the planet. If only they started to crave something. Like justice. And if only they cravings were strong enough for them to act.
