I guess the rule is don't put anything on your computer that you wouldn't share with the entire world. You're correct - every system can be broken and feeling secure is the first step to insecurity. Make paranoia your friend.
If you're running any sort of antivirus you won't get bugged by keyloggers, I hear. Of course other agencies in places like Cheltenham and Ft Meade Maryland watch EVERYTHING you do online.
