I'm no expert on the bible either old testament or new, but I was forced to attend church when I was a child.
My main takeaway was that we are all sinners and all fall short of the glory of God, which I can accept. I never could wrap my head around that eternal punishment concept so I left the church. But if religious beliefs give people hope and purpose and encourage them to be nicer and less sinful then I fail to see the harm.

I doubt Jesus would be proud of the extreme left or right.

It's definitely a thing here alright. Trump is trying to make it alright to say it again. But some atheist or Jew made a big deal out it a few years ago, and it became politically incorrect for stores to say it to shoppers at Christmas. Thus we got Merry Xmas or Happy Holidays.

I don't see that where I live here in the heart of the bible belt, nor do I remember it happening in Arizona, Michigan. Tennessee or California when I lived in those states. Most people go to church on Sundays. I don't, but very rarely does anyone knock on the door trying to save me. Maybe once or twice a year a couple friendly Jehovah Witness will drop by and leave a tract and chat for a couple minutes, but it really doesn't offend me. People are friendly, charitable, and tolerant around here and I very much enjoy living here. They must really try and cram it down you throat over there, for you to feel so offended by it.

What's the difference between the forums and the blogs on CS?

Well my real passion would be writing on ideological subversion and the damage the progressive left has done to my country. I also consider myself somewhat of an expert on what a fraud Obama was. Maybe I will consider it. But don't comments keep bumping the topic back to the top?
