Sounds like some of the jury may have been intimidated and afraid to acquit. We have something here now called jury nullification. The OJ Simpson case comes to mind. Also your country is different than ours. We have a 2,000 mile unsecured porous border with Mexico with illegals aliens and drugs pouring in everyday. If you increase black market demand for guns you're creating a whole new cottage industry.
Jan 13, 2013 - Map: Australia. A study has found Australians now own as many guns as they did at the time of the Port Arthur shootings in 1996. More than 1 million guns were destroyed in the aftermath of the massacre, but research shows Australians have restocked over the past 10 years, importing more than 1 million firearms.
All sounds reasonable enough. You are lucky to live in a country with such a low crime rate. But how about a hypothetical situation. Say a couple thugs manage to get into your house and tie you and your wife up. After taking your valuables they decide to have a go at your wife while you are forced to watch. They assume they are safe since you don't have guns, and you somehow free yourself and reach your illegal loaded pistol. They come at you with a knife and you shoot and kill them both. Who would be the victim here, and my real question. Would your fate be decided by a jury of your peers? And if so what do you think the verdict would be?
So you can dish it out but you can't take it. You're the guy who comes up with titles like the "NRA kills children for profit", so don't lecture me. All the crazy stuff that get said on this site and you guys act like people take your advice seriously.
RE: Is gun control the solution to these unspeakable tragedies?
Good point crazy.
