How's your weather?

Well according to novinite.com last week, 100 000 people were there on the first day. And the population of Plovdiv is around 340 000 so that was a third but obviously you were not among them.

You're stingy? Well well well!

RE: POLAND

I've been to Poland twice. The last time was last year.
I liked it and found that the people were very friendly. Depending on whether you're familiar with those ex-Iron Curtain countries you may find it a bit backward - the roads are a nightmare away from the main highways for example.
The language will be, I would imagine, totally incomprehensible! It was to me.
From what I've heard, many people in the capital speak English. I was in the West and South and that wasn't the case except for schoolchildren. If you should happen to be driving a car they have a law that says the headlights have to be on 24/7 !!! I fell foul of this and had a little contretemps with the cops in South Poland, Kracow I think it was, who wanted some of my Zlotys.
Auschwitz or Oswiecim is in the south of Poland, quite near Katowice.
I found that being friendly and upfront with the people, which is my attitude anyway, always gets good results. Good luck!

What paradise would that be you were talking about?

Get real!

99.999 % of the people on the planet have never heard of her and have better things to do with their time!

President Obama and Jay Leno

Any views on that? From people who saw the show?
Unfortunately I don't get a channel currently that shows the Tonight Show, something I'm going to try to rectify.

Sarkozy's France to Rejoin Nato

So am I on my own here or what?

Sarkozy seems to want to end the lie that the French have been living for over half a century. Isn't that important?

RE: Jade Goody R.I.P

Well I spent a lot of time in Italy and I love the country and the people, even though they are some of the most superficial people on the planet! Oh and I speaka da lingo well, and really enjoy myself when I visit. I seriously considered going to the CS get-together in Rome but don't think I can make it. Also I've been to Rome many times. Love the foro romano. You get the same feeling that you get in Pompeii. Awesome. I touched the ruts in the stone streets, made by countless chariot wheels. What a feeling. I was in Cologne recently and had to wait a couple of days for my budget flight and visited some well-preserved Roman remains that had the same stone slabs with the ruts in them from the chariot wheels. But I digress.
Anyway you mentioned those ancient guys on those shows. Aren't they something else with their dyed hair and face-lifts and pancake make-up? They prance around for their hour upon the stage then back to the wheelchair!

RE: Jade Goody R.I.P

Sorry but I think I made a fair comment. It's a free world we live in, right? One poster made a positive comment about the person, while another made a devastating criticism.
I do find it sad that a person should die at a comparatively young age.

RE: Why do you love your country?

Seems you're like me, a real European and true world citizen.
You meet great people everywhere.

How's your weather?

Thanks, it is great here too. Warm and sunny and the snow melting fast. Since there was about 2 ft. of snow, the water is fairly gushing from the eaves. I put the snow chains on my car yesterday and am taking them off again today!
Glad you had a great time in Paris. I lived there for a couple of years, many moons ago. France is one of my favourite countries.
2 of my daughters are currently in Paris staying with friends. Curiously, although they are quite close and are planning to move into a flat together soon (they both are in London) they are on completely separate visits to Paris!

How's your weather?

ooooooohhhhhhh not so nice, especially with the wind.
I had (night temp.) -10 to -16 C in December and Feb. and it froze my new gas central heating water pipe! So I had to have an electric heater on 24/7 in the extension porch where the ch is!
But no gales with the cold, so thankful for that!

How's your weather?

So have u been to the new mall or not? And spent all your $$$ ?
Much more than you intended to?

There's a new mall in Vidin too, small but nice. I shop in the Pikadili supermarket there because they have stuff that I need such as Patak's curry paste (but not Vindaloo unfortunately) and HP sauce! Which you possibly have no idea about!

The snow arrived here too and I needed my snow chains yesterday, but it's now thawing again.

Yeah I second that! Health is no. 1 I think for most people. We enjoy life and want the good times to go on indefinitely!
And travelling is, for me, an important part of my life - I drive around in my camper van and usually make sure that I chat to people that I encounter on the way.

Literature, yeah does that include the internet?

RE: Why do you love your country?

In the West of Scotland (where I'm from) if you ask for Scotch in a bar, you'll provoke a reaction from a raised eyebrow to - well anything could happen. Ditto if you call someone sweetie!

btw where I'm from we're Scotch (pronounced Scoatch).

RE: Are you satisfied from you life? If yes how?

I didn't vote because there didn't seem to be an option that reflects my situation - and btw I believe there are 8 or 10 possibilities for questions when creating a poll.

I'm about 75 - 85 per cent satisfied. Sometimes more. It varies.

And I think that's not bad really. OK I guess that's a yes - I'll go back and vote!

RE: Why do you love your country?

Yeah but that's a fairly simplistic view of Scotland, especially if we're talking about the West Coast and greater Glasgow, far from the Brigadoon Highlands and from Auld Reekie (Edinburgh). And that's where the greater part of the Scotch are from.

Here's a brief essay from a very intelligent lady: OK it's about television but it demonstrates that there's a reality far removed from tartanry and Brigadoonery.

How's your weather?

Well the forecast snow and hail still haven't arrived here. I think I'm in a little pocket of land that's specially favoured by the weather gods. And that's jolly well the way it should be an' all mate.

I have 2 daughters currently in Paris and I know it's great weather there!

Snow in Austria? well they don't call it the Alpine Republic for nothing!
