There are very few Turks who really want to live away from home. And after visiting Istanbul, I can see one of the reasons. Actually a suitcase full of reasons in one.
On topic: We are most of us positive to a change, but few are willing to provide the real means to achieve it (more money out).
I have no gender recognition in my organisation - parental leave is normally reducing actual work experience and in doing that women would have less salary than men after a few years if they became mothers and choose to stay home the first months.
Instead employed time is fully counted.
Fathers have increased parental leave compensation to enhance their ability to stay home as their wives often have the lesser salary in the family. This would not be needed if all was the same.
There are other factors, but as I have a set salary for each position and not individual negotiation I can do this.
Next thing is to “breed” more management willing women, there are still too few out there that like the idea of boring conference tables and frequent uncompensated late hours. It is a culture thing, and it is moving forward, with a little help, quite well.
How far would you go to attend the greatest thing CS?
