I have never heard of it, but assume its similar to some UK daytime crap

RE: Dr. Phil helps people by judging them?

No no no, Your taking responsibility for someone else's lack of discipline for their children, this is not your fault, you cannot enforce a discipline when the parent does not uphold the same views.

RE: Dr. Phil helps people by judging them?

Is that not a sad reflection of today, I agree with your comment, but it truly saddens me that it is so,, I'm not sure why, it maybe as you say lack of trust, respect or whatever, but when there is a connection I am sure that advise is taken on board and put to good use.

RE: Dr. Phil helps people by judging them?

Then there are those who make out they listen to advise, but won't act upon it because the truth behind the advise would hurt to much, they close their eyes and become blinkered.

RE: whats that youre eating?

I have now had pork steak in barbecue sauce with cauliflower cheese, followed by rice pudding with strawberries, washed down with a Chilean Shiraz, scrumptious laugh laugh

RE: you want to get married, but your partner dont wan children

I have a 3 year old, would that be oklaugh

RE: you want to get married, but your partner dont wan children

yes, people minds change, nothing is hard and fast.

RE: Where would you...?

Yes good point, where has Jojo gone, hope she's ok, she seems to have a strong character so guess she is sorting herself out.

RE: How Important Is It ....?

Nowt so strange as folk, its what makes the world go round,

But you are oh so right in your comments above. my best friend is going through an almost identical set of circumstances as me, he has numerous "friends" and flits from one to another depending on how he is feeling at that time, he always agrees with everything they say, but I know him well enough to tell him that he will always follow his own judgement and never the advice of others. By making the statement "yes your right, I will do that" he is placating them, not actually listening, cause the truth hurts.

RE: How Important Is It ....?

I think there are many who do just that, they use humour/insincerity as a cloak as the serious side is too hard for them to deal with, opens too many questions that they are not willing to answer honestly, so they make idle promises to enable themselves to move on, unquestioned.

RE: What can you live without?

I also cycle when I can

Use public transport rather than the car, its cheaper than parking/fuel

I recycle when possible

I refuse to use cf light bulbs as the pollution in manufacturing is very high

No point in recycling water for the garden as we get rain for free, almost every day roll eyes

Take one shower a month, but have offered to share one with the lady next door, to save water of courseblushing
I only eat take aways/ready meals but I could starve I guess, or god forbid learn to cook moping wink

But I like to think I do my bit for the environment and the next generation.

RE: Is today's woman too materialistic

A very wise comment, whilst some men are lazy, the greater number that are financially worse off are most likely there from past mistakes, and would be only to happy to be the main breadwinner, sometimes in life finding work can be as hard if not harder than finding a decent woman.

dunno

RE: No more apathy... a good beginning for change.

The fact still remains that more people voted for Obama, that has to say something to you.

Its also worth noting that here in Europe a straw vote was taken in every country in the EEC, and in every case, Obama was the outright winner.

Give the man a chance, at least you don't have a man as useless and weak as our Prime Minister

RE: As an Agnostic, I may have been swayed.

I concur, as I was born in Kenya, we are the same age, and have seen so many changes in our homelands, not many for the good, maybe now it will give them the hope they need to also move forward

cheers

RE: No more apathy... a good beginning for change.

The point is Conrad, many many people have taken the view that now they have hope, that there will be changes, made in the right direction, you have your views, but I think you are in the minority, its not just the greater number of Americans that think this it's all around the world, ok, maybe you will one day say "I told you so", apathy never moved mountains, but with enough enthusiasm and encouragement the people of this world can do anything.

cheers

Thanks mike,

RE: No more apathy... a good beginning for change.

Of course, but in this man I genuinely believe that the opportunities to make changes will be taken, and which ever way you look, this is the greatest opportunity of unity since ML King.

RE: hi i'm new

Hi welcome to the mad houselaugh cswelcome

RE: No more apathy... a good beginning for change.

Today a new President has been voted into office in America

This is without any shadow of doubt an historic day, the First Black president of the USA, this together with the crumbling down of the Berlin wall are two things I never thought I would see in my lifetime.

Life is all about change, without change we would still be living in caves

Now is a time when we as a people can embrace unity, realise that to create distinction based on race colour or creed has no place in this world, We are are equal.

I raise a toast to the American peoples for taking such a brave step, and to the younger generation who have eyes that are not clouded like those older than them, its their world their future that is important.
