Big enough to hold two of every animal shortly after creation. Did God cover the whole planet with man and animals or only that part called EDEN. Then later they spread with time....after the flood.
I would say that something like earthqakes forced waters upward from underground rivers...etc. If an area underground collapsed the water would move somewhere! Then the shores could be changed by that water that did not receed and we would think all went back....because we don't know the old shore lines. Time made that be forgotten. But the water could be higher now than before.
Oil men do hit water while drilling.

The ship would have been able to hold the animals at that time (early after creation) and in a local area....if there was a local flood.(large but local)
A low area can be flooded without flooding the whole planet. I even know where there is a mud puddle to prove it. (playin)
There are answers. Vapors became snow and laid then at polar areas and mountian tops were they are not melting. Nothing to do with the ice age. All the water did not dry up the next day....it took time. There are underground rivers...etc..... we tap into them these days for water to drink....NO?
Read the Bible and with proper logic and sound thinking, one can see sound answers to many things. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing! It hides complete understanding!
Some now ice! but others retreated back from were it came....into the Earth. People think all the water came from rain....the fountains of the Earth were broken up also.
When money gets to short in your households due to taxes to house these criminals and feed them while protecting the public....people will stand on street corners screaming to kill them for the sake of tax relief.
The word translated to UNICORN was (a wild bull or oxen), due to Greek influence in thinking the word was translation wrong. The scripture talked about the "power in its horn/horns" (KJV) and the translators being Greek influence concluded it was a UNICORN in error. Even the verses to follow show the error.
This is the reason one must go back to the scriptures to prove all things. Get a Strong's concordance with Greek and Herbrew dictionaies.
If creation (about six thousand years ago) took place as it is said in the Bible, then the people and the animals had not yet covered the face of the global Earth. The people's were in a small area and so were (samples of) the animals of the Earth(land). After the flood and the ship landed, just as people's are varied today from only those small few people......so with animals. Look at the birds called Budgies.....all of the colors we see today and varities are from inbreeding within a short time (about 100 years) from the wild green. This COULD account for BY the same reason there are many types of many animals today.
The beginning of people and animals was local and the flood could have been global or local....if local then the animals (samples of) of the Earth(land) could have been fewer than we know or understand. Local flood, local people, local animals could have made it possible as well. Both ideas are possible.
