This is my God enock007... especially when I feel weakness descend upon me because I draw strength from knowing the place to find God (him/her/it) comes from deep within my thoughts

Sounds like the issue regarding respect may not really rest with his daughter but with him. Perhaps this dispute would be best kept between you and him ONLY. Best to leave her neutral and out of the firing range. She may also be sensing a power struggle here if you are playing the who's right and who's wrong card in this scenario. The role of a partner/step parent is to not discipline the partners child but to support their parenting method even if you don't agree with it. If you don't like the way he's parenting then that is between you and him to work out.

I came from a world where we were taught to respect others too but it was demanded b'cos they were my elders!! Honestly though, most of the adults didn't deserve the respect they expected but I gave them the respect anyway b'cos it was the done thing to do... In my adulthood I soon discovered that if I wanted a better relationship with my kids I would hav to learn that RESPECT is not something you DEMAND from another person (young or old) but something you must 'EARN' from another... you are the grown up here and perhaps the lesson you are being challenged to learn by your situation is to learn the art of working for what you want to achieve. Keep and open mind and heart... practice understanding, kindness, humility, patience, be the adult here and respect will come!! I wish you well
