RE: Save our teachers.

Even though I've never had children of my own. I believed and was happy in supporting public schools at one time.

Today, they can reduce the amount of my share of the taxes allocated towards educating children and still be fare and I'll be happy again. I believe they can now reduce my taxes for public schools by two-thirds and produce better students.

It's unbelievable, IMO, that our elementary and High School facilities "look" like college campuses with indoor tracks and swimming pools, huge football stadiums, sweetly adorned yoga, ballet and athletic locker rooms, lush offices, multiple administrators and principles, underworked teachers with multiple assistants generally having nothing to do most of the time, yada yada yada.

We pay too much for too few results.

The USA's public education bubble has to burst so that the publicly educated kids are educated again instead of all the greedy school administrators and teachers getting richer, lazier and fatter off from my hard earned dollars. cheers

RE: Save our teachers.

Put any label on me you wish about my dislike for paying for others' educations. I am not now and never will be a socialist or fascist and I surely disagree with your held belief, "Anything less shows a countries complete disrespect and lack of hope for their own people and future."

Why do you think I or anyone else would want to pay taxes period? Even our personal income taxes n the USA are unconstitutional and only go to pay on the debt to pay the central private banks interest charged for printing money the US federal government can print without charging itself interest.

If my parents and I could pay for my future and I turn out to be successful then why can't others do the same thing? It appears our kids aren't learning what they should in public schools so you think I should pay more in taxes so they can hire more administrators and teachers and build bigger swimming pools and football fields and dining halls to try and make a difference? Baloney! Let them pay for their own educations! Entitlement mentality equals unwanted socialism. That's not what made America but will probably break it. Let them go to private schools to get a real education of value.

How would you feel if out of your Real Estate taxes, $4500.00 USD (is that 6300 Euros?) was taken out per year to pay your share of the local public schools? And what do I get out of it? And what do the kids get out of it? Respect, discipline, a sense of responsibility and gratification for having things handed to them.

RE: Save our teachers.

Looks like we can at least agree to disagree on the public versus parochial school products then. Back in the sixties it was considered that the graduate from a Catholic High School alone, had the mental capability of the average Bachelor degreed person then. Today it's probably more like the equivalent of a post-doctorate. lol. cheers

RE: Save our teachers.

I have a very high regard for education and your opinions and I am glad to hear how things have improved in China's public education system.

What I have little respect for, is how the public education, in the USA, is taken for granted. The kids aren't learning what they should, the parents don't get involved, and it's too expensive for any sane tax-supporting person to tolerate.

In my opinion, our public system should be downsized and run more efficiently w/o all the bells and whistles or at least take its operations private and fund it the same way we fund prison operations which have gone private.

And if my poor parents could afford to pay for my better parochial school education, why can't the general public do the same? Forget about spreading my money around. I like to keep some of it for myself. wine

RE: Save our teachers.

We (USA) need to change our kinetic military action mindset before we can "save" enough money to repair our infrastructure to look and perform like other country's who don't have our level of military expense but benefit from our on-call military. JMO again. cheers

RE: Save our teachers.

Can you read? You are talking apples and oranges, and I never said we don't need teachers.
If someone wants something in this world let them work for it, including their educations.

Why do you think I should pay for someone else's anything?

My first-generation and poor Italian Italian/American parents raised children but didn't look for baloney entitlement programs or expect anyone else to pay for our way, including our educations.

RE: Save our teachers.

I think that the public school system in the USA should all be privatized and soon. The current system is too big and bloated with too many administrators and why do they have swimming pools, track, band, football stadiums, theaters, beautiful buildings? All that stuff goes beyond what a pre-college education is about. Teach them in trailers.

People shouldn't have children they can't afford anyways, and that includes their child's educations, baby sitters, food, medicine etc.

No one, not one parent has ever thanked me for helping put their kid(s) through school(s) as I pay my home's R.E. taxes.

Pay your own bills! Send your kids to parochial schools and let them get a real education. I am grateful that is what my parents did for me and my siblings.

I might feel better about public education system if maybe the parents and children showed some kind of gratitude for my paying for their child's educations. Yes, had they cut my grass weekly and shoveled my driveway clear of snow, took out the trash, planted flowers and washed my home's windows I might feel differently about giving my money to the tax people for their educations.

What a joke and burden on tax payers public education has become. scold

RE: When was the last time...

Well, I volunteer weekly for the James Cancer Center here in Columbus, Ohio visiting patients on floors or in the chemo units, work in the family waiting area and research stuff for patients or family in a library there.
Key things to have/use as a volunteer here is Listening, having compassion and having Patience with the patients. They are usually stressed and or confused and it takes time to help figure things out.
Does this activity help make a diference? dunno not always certain, but I'd like to think so.
