Tomorrow morning I will have my last cigarette. I promised myself years ago that if I ever woke up coughing, that I would quit. The minute I hit the shower, I begin the classic, "Smokers cough". I consider that to be my last warning. Not that I want to live to be 90, I just want to feel good when I wake up. I want to be able to smell things again, (I think if a Jackal wretched in my kitchen, I wouldn't even notice) leave alone not being able to taste food anymore.
I've been through this before, I know what to expect. This time I'll try not to kill anyone, or chase cars, snapping at their tires. I will not eat 24 chocolate bars a day nor fill up on pasta every time I crave a smoke. Good luck to me, I want to breathe again.
Yesterday a Ca., meat processor recalled 143 million lbs., of hamburger from all over the US. For years they have been processing sick cattle, without testing for BSE. Glad I'm a vegetarian.
We have 5 years left before the world reverts to chaos. The USA is bankrupt, but it's too hard to admit. All the world still places its chips on fossil fuel, which is running out. The populations of oil producing countries is growing to an extent where they will have to keep their oil.
Suburbs will become wastelands, because there are no transit systems to the city work-place. Germany, Japan etc., have electric high-tech train systems, while North America is dismantling its rail routes.
The post war dream....Disneyland, a happy ending to our lives, is just that, a dream. We have created the machine that can't be shut down, yet this machine is our demise.
No one wants to hear the truth, but we all will experience it and soon. I won't even touch on the Global Warming issue.
