An earlier thread asked that this person be exempted from polls. "Me thinks that thou dost protest too much". Shakespeare's saying for , pay attention to me. (Forgive me if I'm wrong)
As for being one's self on site, we do at times extend ourselves beyond what we'd do in person. But with enough thoughts and responses posted, we become an open book to those who pay attention. There are a few people here that I have never met in person, yet I trust them completely. Naive ? No. How many people have you met in person, maybe have known for many years, that have betrayed you ? There are some here who do play games, but they are the minority and don't last long.
Never before in our recent history could we communicate in an instant with the world. If someone in Tierra del Fuego googles gentlepaws, my thoughts will be known to them.
A terrifying trade-off. With this world-wide living room comes a feeling of; too much, too fast, too easy. But is it any different from real life, too much, too fast, too easy ? 12 years ago, I could not have asked this question, and get a response from the world. The Global Village has Arrived.
Are we not men, do we not spit and curse, do we not bleed from the heart when spurned ? Do we not engage in meaningless pissing contests ?
Mice, a long misunderstood mammal. Sweet little things with fur. They seek mates, food and shelter just like us. Within their own weight category, they can hold their own little macho selves, again, just like us.
Ever wonder why Canadians know so much about the US and not the reverse ? Our late Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, said, "When you're in bed with an elephant and it rolls over, you're going to feel it".
If I were an American, I'd vote for Obama. There may be a forced election here in Canada in the next 6 months. I'd love to see our Bush wanna be Prime minister go. For the political part of Canadian history, we've been governed by liberals, and that's what makes me so proud.
